Are guns bad? Well Maria, ARE people bad? Be honest.

Now, back to your question. Are guns bad? Well Maria, some are terrible, hardly better than junk and suitable only as anchor-weights. Ever heard of the "Saturday Night Special," the low quality, cheap handguns banned from importation into the US some thirty years ago! Now you take a Colt Python .357 Magnum or a Steyr Mannlicher Pro, a Ruger #1, a Remington 870 pump, any of the fine double dangerous game rifles and you have a GOOD firearm you can bet your life on!

Guns don't kill Maria, PEOPLE kill; and there are good people and there are BAD people.

The sigma is a decnt firearm. It does what it supposed to do and it rarely complians. The sigma has a lock, of sorts. The really heavy trigger was meant to reduce the risk of an accidental discharge. The main saftey is you. Don't rely on a switch. There are a lot of guns without a saftey, mosty revolvers but some semi-auto handguns. Now everything you worry about wont be an issue if you, your children and your grandfather understand proper firearm saftey. You can leave a loaded mag in it but not one in the chamber, or just have them seperate but within reach. As for issues with it. Most of the problems with it were remedied in recent years. You may have your occasional jam, especially since it being newer.

Guns aren't bad. It's the people who misuse them that are bad. Also, it's not the gun that does the killing, it's that hot piece of lead that comes screaming out of the barrel that does the killing. Guns take alot of blame for stuff that really stupid people do. An inanimate object can't be bad, because it can't move. Saying a gun is bad is just like saying that a rock is bad. A rock can be used to kill, too.

It depends on the gun.
Some guns are better than others.
It also depends on the situation.

I live in Detroit, so it's a good idea to be prepared.

For shock & awe effect and pure stopping power, I prefer the Colt Python .357 Magnum handgun with a 4 inch barrel. The 6 or 8 inch models do not fit in my purse. It's a little hard for me to fire because I am only 4' 10" and 96 lbs, but the Python gets the job done.
I use copper-jacketed hollow points for maximum damage.

In close combat situations, I like the Sig Hauer P245 .45 ACP Autoloader. While it only allows 6 rounds in the clip and one chambered, I employ extended 14 round clips when needed.
Since there is always potential for a explosive firefight, this is the one I carry to school in my backpack.

I'm a big Sig fan, so the Sig Hauer SG 551-SWAT (Sturmgewehr) is my first choice in modern assault rifles. It is light, versatile and extremely accurate. The rear sight is like those found on HK rifles and is adjustable for windage and elevation. A universal scope mount is available that accepts a wide range of sighting aids such as night-vision equipment, Trijicon ACOGs and other STANAG-based optics without the need for special tools or adapters. A universal fitting on the foresight mount accepts special equipment such as bipods or laser sighting aids.

Of course for sheer reliability, nothing beats Mikhail Kalashnikov's popular AK-47 model. There have been only 8 minor changes since Kalashnikov designed the marvelous weapon in 1947.
It is hard to improve perfection.
You can drop it in water or remove the inspection plate and throw in some sand, then shake it out and it will still fire. It is a pleasure to own one.

I'm hoping they will start manufacturing DU (depleted uranium) rounds for use by civilian gun enthusiasts. You know... for home protection against armored vehicles.

I've owned a bad gun, but most don't misbehave. As a general rule, they're very safe and reliable tools when used correctly. Of course, just about anything can be misused, and guns are no exception.

You take for granted the privileges you just exercised.
Freedom Of Speech.
Do you thank we would be talking openly here and now, if it were not for the gun and the courage of our forefathers.
When I joined the military 35 years ago it was not a macho thing or driven by male testosterone.
It was quite simple I owed a debt for the freedom I so enjoyed.
A debt that could not be paid back to those who had secured my freedom.
This debt had to be paid forward. I helped secure the freedom for tomorrows generation.
To pay back a debt to those who had secured today’s freedom.
The gun is a tool and only a tool.
With it there is a balance of power.
Courage by its self is not enough to preserve freedom.

Guns are bad in the same way that my fork is responsible for making me fat! Its not the weapon but the person using it. Someone could hold a teddy bear over your face and suffocate you with it does that make teddy bears evil, I don't think so!

Guns are only bad if you're a mindless, self-hating, violent, controlling dictator with an agenda you want to force on the public in order to first enslave them and then to destroy them utterly, whether it's religion or socialism, both are mystical philosophies of death, which out of necessity, because there is no reason to stand for what they believe, must use force (outside of self-defense,) to strip people of their humanity by depriving them of their rights to property, to the money they earn, and to violate their inviolate minds, destroying humanity's greatest achievement, reason, demeaning us all, just because they hate themselves, are trapped in denial, and have no minds left. For those people, who we'll call criminals, free people with guns are a terrible thing.
