I am making a bean cassoulet in the crock pot and don't have enough baby carrots on hand, so was hoping I could add more veggies but all I have are frozen baby peas and frozen broccoli florets. The crock pot will be on low for about 8 hours. Can I just add these?

Thank you!!! :o)

Yes you can. It sounds like I discovered this the same way you are, by running out of fresh veggis. I just dumped a bag of frozen veggies with the meat and sauce, and it turned out great. I now use almost all frozen veggies when I use the crock pot.

You can add them. If you are going to be close by, you may want to wait until a few hours before it's done. If you aren't going to be there, put the frozen vegetables on the top of everything else and don't mix it in. You can stir after it's done. They won't fall apart or get soggy.

Crock pots are wonderful things because they always make you look good with food. Dump in the frozen carrots and don't worry about them. There is not food bacteria issues so dump and run and eat later.

You can add them...but not until the last 10 or 20 min. of cook time.

All fruits are fruit and vegetables. A "vegetable" is a plant, any part of which can be used for food.

In the superstore, fruits are usually chosen far too soon. Some are rocks, many are bitter. Some of the fruit and vegetables are generally right (zucchini, onions, garlic, lettuce, greens, and a few others) so I'd have to go with vegetables.
