Okay, I have asthma and get sick all the time. I just got over being sick with pneumonia to the point of coughing up blood from airway irritation. I've missed 36 days of school and need to catch up but I'm sick again (fevers, wheezing, low peak flows, mucus, night coughing).

How do I know when to stay home now? How do I know a cough won't turn into bronchitis?

I see a respiratory therapist, am doing immunotherapy, no carpets in my room, a humidifier to help with coughing at night, and I see a pulmonary specialist on a regular basis.

My treatment is excellent (no major hospitalizations in the past year). I just keep getting sick.

Anytime you are running a fever, you are contagious and should stay home. Get a doctor's note. Call the school and have someone go in and pick up your work for you. Sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. The school will understand, or better yet, see if the nurse from your doctor's office could call the school. You can get caught up on work at home as you start to feel better.

Ok, first of all, you need to control your asthma. It doesn't sound like that is happening. You need to find a doctor that specializes in asthma control.

Next, you need to get better from whatever it is you have. It sounds like you have not fully recovered from the pneumonia or have something else going on.

Finally, you need to take action in your home to prevent asthma attacks and other things; make sure there is no carpeting in your bedroom, no animals allowed in it, no dust accumulating, sheets are washed in hot water weekly, you keep a humidifier going to regulate the air, and you have an air purifier too.

Check into the area you live in, is it highly polluted? You may want to move to a cleaner place for your health, I did.

Your case is very similar to other case from a 22 year old guy I helped before. With a test I have in one of my books I might be able to find out what you have and get a natural medicine for you since regular medicine some times just don't work.
