I read the Di Vinci code. It made me think a lot about stuff. It made me think about what everyone says about the Bible how it is right....how do we know. The people who read it I don't know if you get what I'm saying, but it really make you think. Does that make me a bad person. How is that different then me being of a different religion?

I agree with you totally and when I talk about it with my friends they tell me to shut-up and stop talking nonsense. They think that only the word of the Bible is right when really the Bible wasn't written by Jesus but it was inspired. I think that all the people who can't accept that others may have a different opinion should leave the U.S. because people here are always coming up with new ideas. Also to all those people out there if it is really such a bad book and so wrong how come so many people bought it and saw the movie.

Your question regarding the Da Vinci Code is a good one. Many people are fooled by the book and now movie. There is a book and move out called Da Vinci Code fact or fiction, I strongly suggest you read this book or watch the movie.

There is no substitute for the Bible. The Bible is the Word of God.

That was the whole point of the Di Vinci Code book....to deceive you, to twist a book full of lies around a single grain of truth. Many people swallow the lies hook, line, and sinker....have you? That is why that book is so dangerous in the hands of a person who is new or weak in faith. The bible is the inspired word of God...it is His truth. The di vinci code is the work of a man and is entirely fiction. Read the Bible, God's truth is plain and simple. The answer to every question you will ever have is written in its pages. You are not a bad person for thinking and questioning...it is a growing and learning process.

I am a little confused Why people take the Da Vinci Code a work of *fiction* as fact and desregard the Bible, the Truth, as fiction?

It makes no sense. The Da Vinci code expanded on a fictional thought the author had one day and decided to write about it. It is not truth.

The Di Vinci Code is a fictional book. The Bible is true.
The Bible's accuracy and reliability have been proved and verified over and over again by archaeological finds produced by both believing and nonbelieving scholars and scientists. This included verification for numerous customs, places, names, and events mentioned in the Bible.
One among many examples is the fact that for many years the existence of the Hittites (a powerful people who lived during the time of Abraham) was questioned because no archaeological digs had uncovered anything about them. Critics claimed the Hittites were pure myth. But today the critics are silenced. Abundant archaeological evidence for the existence of the Hittites during the time of Abraham has been uncovered.
Bible scholar Donald J. Wiseman notes, "The geography of Bible lands and visible remains of antiquity were gradually recorded until today more than 23,000 sites within this region and dating to Old Testament times, in their broadest sense, have been located." Nelson Glueck, a specialist in ancient literature, did an exhaustive study and concluded: "It can be stated categorically that no archaeological discovery has ever controverted a biblical reference." Well-known scholar William F. Albright, following a comprehensive study, wrote: "Discovery after discovery has established the accuracy of innumerable details, and has brought increased recognition of the value of the Bible as a source of History."

There are more than 24,000 partial and complete manuscript copies of the New Testament. These manuscript copies are very ancient and they are available for inspection NOW. there are also some 86,000 quotations from the early church fathers and several thousand lectionaries (church-service books containing Scripture quotations used in the early centuries of Christianity). In fact, there are enough quotations from the early church fathers that even if we did not have a single copy of the Bible, scholars could still reconstruct all but 11 verses of the entire New Testament from material written within 150 to 200 years from the time of Christ. Bottom line: The New Testament has an overwhelming amount of evidence supporting its reliability.

The bible is just one account of our Christian heritage. The specific books in the bible were chosen by men from numerous "gospels" written by the disciples. Just remember, the only way the early Christians could communicate their faith was through oral accounts transcribed by scribes or writers. (Kind of like a secretary to a boss) Peter and Thomas wrote their own versions of the teachings of Jesus and now we have the gospel of Judas which was newly discovered.
In order to learn about the time in which Jesus lived, you might want to read about the jewish heritage. Back in Jesus' time, it was the norm to be married, so it is quite possible that Jesus may have been married.
If you read something and it inspires you to learn more about God and His son Jesus then I say read and learn more. Understand the time at which Jesus lived. It will also help you understand the Bible as well. Things will make more sense when you try to understand the "why" behind it.
Sadly, I too was told that the Bible was the only book you should have. I personally think that's closed minded. The DaVinci Code is a fictional book that does have a lot of fact in it. Take Opus Dei. I belonged to that and knew what the Chelis was immediately. In spite of what Opus Dei says, the practice of self mutilation is practiced.
READ READ READ. The more you read, the more your desire to know the truth will grow!
It does not make you a bad person to want to gain knowledge over and above the Bible. Everything works together.
"Seek and ye shall find" That quote while stated in the Bible didn't say, "Seek me only in the Bible and nothing else and ye shall find" When you "seek" or look for something, don't you look everywhere? Why look for a lost watch in the same place when you see it's not there?

The Bible refers to Satan as the "god of this system of things".And he is here doing whatever it takes to turn people away from worshipping God.Whatever he can do to confuse and mislead people you can bet he is doing it.A prime example would be the movie you mentioned.
As one of Jehovah's Witnesses I truely beleive the Bible to be the inspired Word of God.
Jehovah God ensured its being preserved down to our day,so that we would have an 'instruction manuel'so to speak.Somewhere where we can get guidance and counsel to help us through life.Somewhere where we can get to know our Heavenly Father and somewhere where we can learn what is expected of us as worshippers.
So no,it doesnt make you a bad person.Just a misled one.Which is just what Satan wants.Instead of reading the Di Vinci Code why not consider studying the Bible instead. You would be much better off

Firstly, do some research. You don't have to hold any kind of faith to undertstand that the DaVinci Code is ridiculous. It would be SORT of ridiculous if it was represented as total fiction, but it claims to be largely based on historical fact, which makes it massively ridiculous. There are websites devoted to "debunking" the far-out speculations and conspiracy theories that the book puts forth as truth; I'll let you look them up yourself.

As far as to your doubts of the Bible making you a bad person, or how is it different from being of a different religion...I would say it isn't much different from belonging to another religion. And you have to define "bad person." The Biblical view is that we are a fallen race, that each person is born with a sinful nature that expresses itself in sins committed, numerous acts throughout life. In that sense, we are all "bad people". The good news (which is what "gospel" means, incidently) is that you don't have to stay that person, God can remake you into someone else - that's where the term "born again" comes from.

And as to "how do we know the Bible is accurate or can be trusted" that's another one you should research yourself, it's far more complicated than can be addressed in one post. But I'll throw out a few appetizers:

For one thing, all the prophecy that has been fulfilled, which would indicate something supernatural about the Bible, like say, that it comes from an all-knowing God. There are literally hundreds of prophecies just relating to Christ, which came literally true - being born of a virgin, in the line of David, in Bethlehem, massacre of babies at the time of his birth, journeyed in Egypt, lived in Galilee, rode into Jerusalem at on a young donkey, betrayed by a friend, death by crucifixion, crucified between two criminals, stabbed in the side with a spear, but legs not broken as was customary, buried in the tomb of a rich man, rose again after three days. Just to name a few off the top of my head. All these were predicted hundreds of years before they came to pass. The Bible is full of such things. How can it be explained away?

Another point- MASSIVE archeological evidence for the utmost historical accuracy of the BIble. Archeology over and over again proves the Bible right on ancient history. Even when the academic community is sure they finally caught the Bible in a mistake, eventually archeology shows it to be correct. Place names, people, cultures, events, battles, numbers, dates - over and over again (I know I keep using that phrase but I can't stress it enough) the scientists dig up exactly what the Bible describes.

That's a taste - like I said there are libraries full of volumes written on this subject; you'll have to look into it for yourself if you really want to know. And I wish you luck and an open mind.

Personally, I believe The Da Vinci Code is fiction and The Bible is fact. Believing in either one takes faith. I prefer to believe in the Infallible Word of God instead of the words of a man who has a really good imagination. People have always tried to discredit The Bible in some fashion but it doesn't change the truth in what is written. The Bible says "a double minded man is unstable in all of his ways". Search the Scriptures, pray, and follow the leadings of God.

It is ok to think, but what are you going to use for your reference or standard?
I don't see that the Bible has lied or been inaccurate. The history is correct, so this is a good start. But doesn't the book say that it is fiction or something like that? The Bible warns about other gospels being taught. But the more I study, the more I am convinced the Bible is the truth. If you should quit believing the Bible, then it would be like a false religion.
