What are the ill health effects of compulsive overeating over the duration of 2.5 years. Used primarily to deal with stress, punitive for lack of perfection (ie...I ate one cookie and blew it, oh now I hve to eat ten...) any place to get (free) help????? advice. maintain ave. weight of 130 for 5'8". low as 122 when running 6-8 miles per day, high as 139 when not working out. no puking involved...tried a couple times unsuccessfully, thankfully. sometimes eat a buncha junk one day, very little the next cause not hungry. any help appreciated as this cycle kinda ...well, puts life on hold...! need to get scared out of it perhaps...idk...thanks...

over 2.5 year? No big whoo- high cholesterol maybe. Over many years- diabetes, heart disease, arteriosclerosis, stroke, arthritis to name a few

i had this same problem and am currently in a cycle very similar to this, i was able to quite a few months ago about a year but it then continued not to long ago. the way i stopped was to eat on a plan. make a scheldule as to what to eat, eat only that, whether you are starving or full as hell, it works. and get rid of EVERYTHING you know you may snack on, like cookies, poptarts (my favorite), and ice cream. after i eat one unhealthy thing i can't stop myself, it awakens a hunger deep inside of me for that food, and by the time i eat 3 or 4 i say f it and eat as many as i can stand

There is a free organization called overeaters anonymous. They say if you eat over what's eating you, you are an compulsive overeater. They have meeting over the Internet or in person. They are all over the united states.

i'm so sorry - i've battled it for many years myself - although i' not currently going - in the past i've found overeats annonymous very helpful - it's not just for obese people...people with various eating disorders and weighing various weights attend and you can learn alot about how to cope - and about other places for treatment that are available - he group is totally free and to see where one is near you just go to the website (look it up) - it'll have a list of when and where the meetings are closest to you - i hope you find help...i know how crazy it can make your head as you beat yourself up...
