I know everyone wants to say that their own religion is the right one (and obviously they can't all be right), but I would like some guidance. If you sincerely believe that your faith is the one and only true and correct religion, please let me know what it is, and briefly state why you believe it is the one and only. I would be interested in hearing from all religions. My quest is to discover which way is right. I know it's gotta be out there somewhere. Also, if your religion happens to teach that "there is no one true religion", but rather there are "many paths which lead to God", and that "it doesn't matter which religion you follow", please let me know what your religious affiliation is, too.

Serious answers only, please. Thank you.

I am Pagan, I was Wiccan, and I have out grown that label. I believe that religion is whatever you feel is right for you. There are a lot of religious ideas and concepts that I believe in, from many different cultures, and in every religion there seems to be something I either don't agree with or think is missing.

There isn't a right religion. Just follow your heart. Start to research and the path that is Right for you will become clear. Learn everything you can, accept what feels good to you, and leave the rest behind.

That is the only advice I can give. You could try this test, it may help you, or lead you in the direction you need to go, to start learning.

First of all, when it comes to religion, do not take any ones word for it. Make sure to read and understand everthing before commiting to anything.
If you are leaning towards Christianity, I have some advice.
Get yourself at least a 1611 King James Bible and a Strong's Exhuastive Concordance. You see, many modern Bible translations
mask the original writer's meaning. By checking the verses yourself to the original languages and testing what different religions claim as regards the BIble, you can gain something that is valuable and can never be taken from you.
The Truth.
Oh another really helpful publication is Leo Rosten's Religions in America, a book compiled of the different beliefs of the American religions, as told by represetatives of their respective faiths.

There is only one book in which the author proclaims to be God.
There is only one book in which the author -God- asks you to prove by yourself that he is God.
There is only one book in which God -its author- offers prove that he is God by announcing things to happen forehand, with absolute preciseness. (One such example is the announcement of what Cyrus was going to do for Him 100 years before the birth of Cyrus. even before the birth of Cyrus' parents).
There is only one book that has been preserved unchanged through the thousands of years according to the words of its author who said in advance that He himself would preserve it for the generations to come.

That book is the Bible. God reveals Himself to you through it.

You were asking for a way: read again the answer of Bob B. The real and holly Christians walk in His way, hold His truth, and will enjoy His eternal life.
Read again the answer of Chopper and follow his advice.
Kiara wants you to know that Christianity is not a religion; it is the communion with the living God.
Gladiator advices you “Find out what the Bible Says - not what someone thinks it says.”
Never follow your heart as the God of that book says: « 9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.» (Jeremiah 17)
Have you read Angel’s and Oksana’s testimonies?
If you like to use your brain read again the third paragraph of Gary B‘s answer.
Nej24 is explaining you why some sectors call themselves “Christians” but what YOU have to do is read that book and ASK the God of that book to reveal Himself to you.
Finally, kait is telling you all your reading will be nothing if you don’t recognize that you are sinner and that you need a Savior. Follow his advice and pray. That will guide you to salvation of your soul.

The Bible teaches that the only way to God is through his son Jesus Christ. Jesus said "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me." John 14:6

Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)
Become part of God's family today. Acknowledge your sinfulness, and express your faith in these words:
"God, I have sinned against You. (Romans 3:23) I've followed my own way and refused to give You the right to rule in my life. (Romans 3:10-12) I recognize I am separated from You and cannot rescue myself. I do believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I accept the truth of the Scriptures? that His death on the cross paid my sin-debt in full. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) And I ask You to forgive me of my sins. (1 John 1:9) By faith, I receive You, Lord Jesus, as my personal Savior from this moment on."
If you just spoke those words to God, then, like the thief on the cross, you have received salvation? a gift of God's grace. The heavenly Father welcomes every person who comes to Him through His Son, regardless of background, age, or current situation. Through Jesus, the right to enter paradise is yours!

Christianity, firstly because it makes intuitive sense. In every other religion, you have to work your way to heaven. But what about the person with terrible upbringing, who can't bring himself to do enough good things to overcome the bad? Most religions would have to believe that person cannot achieve heaven, enlightenment, nirvana, whatever. Only in Christianity is salvation fully a work of God.

Second, because it's historical. There is widespread evidence for the veracity of both Testaments of the Bible. Please don't fall for bogus pseudo-scholarship like "The God Who Wasn't There" (using primarily outdated 19th century theories) or extreme fringe "scholars" like the Jesus Seminar. There is a huge amount manuscript evidence available and convincing to anybody willing to listen.

By the way, I should note that a religion that teaches "there is no one true religion" is really claiming itself to be the one true religion: if somebody says "no single statement is absolutely true", they are really suppressing the phrase "except this statement, which IS absolutely true."

I commend you on your search. Please contact me personally if you wish to talk more. Yahoo Answers is not the best forum for extended, thoughtful conversation or discovery of knowledge.

why do you ask people? ask to the love in your heart to find its owner. There is only one god. and in some way if you are honest you will find yourself in a right way. just ask to your heart. if you are feeling guÄ°lty on the road, most probably you are on wrong road. when you will feel the peace in your heart most probably because the love in your heart find the owner.... I LOVE GOD(WHAT WE CALL ALLAH) SO MUCH. I HOPE YOU WÄ°LL FEEL THE SAME WAY ONE DAY. THERE Ä°S NOTHÄ°NG ABOVE THÄ°S LOVE.

Equal respect for all religions is impossible
Dr. Ramendra
It has often been advocated by some well-intentioned persons that in interest of communal harmony we ought to cultivate equal respect for all religions. On face value, it appears to be a laudable advice, but a closer scrutiny reveals that this is an impossible as well as undesirable ideal to follow.

A person can have equal respect for all religions only if either he knows nothing about various religions or if he has a totally non-serious attitude towards them or both.

Take the question of existence of god, which is central to many religions. Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam and Sikhism are monotheistic religions. In Hinduism we find anthropomorphism, polytheism, monotheism, monism and even atheism existing side by side. Finally, Buddhism and Jainism are atheistic or non-theistic religions.

Now, either god exists, or he does not. It cannot be the case that god both exists and does not exist. All available evidence suggests that it is impossible for god to exist. But, in any case, a person can either believe that god exists or he can believe that god does not exist. How can he have equal respect for both these beliefs? Or, in other words, how can he have equal respect for both theistic and atheistic religions? If he believes in the existence of god, he will have more respect for theistic religions. On the other hand, if he is a rationalist and atheist, he is likely to have more respect for atheistic religions than for theistic ones.

Again, most of religions including Jainism believe in the existence of soul. Buddhism, on the other hand, rejects the existence of soul. Now, let us imagine two persons -- one who believes in existence of god and soul, say A; and another who rejects both these beliefs as false, say B. How is it possible for both A and B to have equal respect for Jainism and Buddhism? It is natural that B will have more respect for Buddhism than for Jainism and vice versa. One cannot have equal respect for both truth and falsehood. It is not even desirable to promote equal respect for truth and falsehood.

Let us turn our attention to theistic religions. According to Christianity, Jesus was the "son of god" and the whole of the Bible including the New Testament is "revealed" by god. This belief is, however, rejected by Zoroastrianism, Judaism and Islam. Again, according to Islam, Mohammed was a "messenger of allah" and the Koran is "revealed". Now, a person may believe that the first statement is true whereas the second one is false. Alternatively, he may believe that the second statement is true whereas the first one is false. Thirdly, he may believe that both these statements are true; and finally, he may believe that both these statements are false. In the first case, he is a Christian and will have more respect for Christianity. In the second case, he is a Muslim and is certain to have more respect for Islam. In the third case, if the person is really serious, then he is likely to turn schizophrenic, because the teachings of Jesus and Mohammed are different, if not contradictory, on many important issues. In the fourth case, the person is not likely to have any respect for either of these religions.

Thus, equal respect for all religions is not possible. Different religions make different truth-claims, and one cannot have equal respect for truth as well as falsehood. As pointed out earlier, it is also not desirable to promote equal respect for truth and falsehood. What is both possible and desirable is to have equal respect for all human beings irrespective of their religious beliefs; or equal respect for human beings belonging to different religious groups, including those who do not believe in any religion. In other words, what we need for promoting communal harmony is humanism and not a muddle-headed approach towards religion.

I am a Christian, I enjoy a personal relationship with Jesus, who died on the cross to save mankind from sins. When you accept him into your life He becomes The Lord of your life. It is a journey that leads to eternal life with God. Christianity is the only religion I am aware of where God reaches down to man with grace and the free gift of salvation by grace. It is not a works program. Just believing in Jesus gives salvation. We try to live Godly lives out of love and respect for our Savior. God Bless you.

I follow Shamanics mainly. It does teach that there are many paths to the Divine. If I were you, I'd just keep studying and learning as much as you can about all religions, then just go for the one that calls out to you. There's no truer guidance than from your heart.
