Hello all. Im going on a date shortly. I have had a bad cold lately and have something ehich looks like a cold sore on my lip. I have never had a cold sore before so i dont think it is herpes related. Should i refrain from kissing my date. Problem is that this is the 3rd date and we are getting on pretty well. If i tell her i cant kiss her because of cold sore im worried she will think i am some sort of disease ridden scumbag who she will drop like a hot spud. Would really appreciate advice.

Just because you never had a herpes cold sore before doesn't mean that you don't have one now. You should play it on the safe side until it clears up. Just tell her you have a cold or something. If it the sore comes back, ever, you should probably take the blood test to determine whether or not you have the herpes virus. There are two, and a lot of older docs don't know about the tests, but they are called HSV1 and HSV2.

Go on the date and don't worry about it. If you can see this sore on your lip, the chances are she will also see it, and she will refrain from kissing you and not make a big deal out of it. Because it isn't a big deal! People get cold sores, people cut themselves shaving, women have "bad hair" days, and on and on. It's a cold sore, not cancer.

Relax, have a good time. If this is a woman you like, and she likes you, your friendship is not going to go up in smoke because of a cold sore. There will be other times to kiss. The main thing is not to touch your face at any time during the date. That's good hygiene anyway.

Have fun!

For your info cold sores are very common and does not mean you are disease ridden...just explain that you have a sore, most likely cold sore and that you would like to kiss her, but dont wanna risk passin it on

I can relate. I actually woke up one morning and the whole side of my face was swollen. Want to talk about embarrassing?? Look like someone punched me in the face. Anyway, went to the pharmacy, they told me it was a fever sore and I used abreva. Very expensive, but works great. They are very common. Just tell your date that is what it is. Also, they are very painful, so just tell her that you are sorry, but that it hurts and you will make it up to her some other time.
Good Luck

hey - chicks get cold sores too. Besides ~~ if somebody took off cuz of a cold sore, you need deeper chicks. The superficial girl will only get you so far in life.

once I get them i bombard them with fragrance or aftershave, it dries them up, won't be able to assure it is going to artwork by applying day after today in spite of the shown fact that it is going to help to end it spreading. relish your date.
