Diets don't work. You need to change your lifestyle. Eat healthy, exercise, stay away from sodas (that have been proven to literally hold in fat), drink water (about 8 glasses per day).
I never went on a diet, counted calories or did any of that. I have been a size 6-8 and in good shape. Need I say more?

First of all 700 calories is way too low. It should be 1200 to 1600 depending on your weight and how much you want to lose. Then you have to remember every move you make during the day burns calories. Even breathing burns some calories. So adding the exercise bike burns 310 more calories then your normal daily activities burn.

To begin with, the "calories burned" display on your exercises bike is probably more of an estimate that an actual count.
You didn't say how long you have been on this regimen, but I would say, keep it up and after a week or so, you will start to see and feel a difference in your body.

I think a lot of it is genetic. I know it is both but, my sister teaches yoga and aerobics 2x's every day and eats healthy. I am 2 years older, eat what I want and we are very similar in weight and body build. It makes her sooo mad. You can make a difference with your diet and exercise but, some things are just how you are made. That being said, I also think your body gets use to something and it becomes ineffective. I think you get better results (from past experience in my own life) if you vary your diet and exercise. BTW - don't focus too much on this and miss out on the best years of your life. I'll bet you look a lot better than you realize just as you are right now.

Yes! You are missing the fact that your body burns up a certain amount of calories everday just living, without any exercise. The calories burned in exercise are in addition to what is already used just to keep your body alive. Not sure of the exact amount its about 1500 I think, but you could probably punch that in to google and find that info.

The key is to losing weight is to raise heart rate to the point where it burns fat the most. Since your body burns carbohydrates much easier than fats. You need to raise your heart rate to a level where you burn sugars and fats. Burning 310 calories in one hour isn't too intensive from my experience. Your bike ride probably just took out a lot of sugars from your daily intake.

Your body burns calories on its own, without any exercise on your part. It's called your Basal Metabolic Rate. You can google it and it will probably show you some sites where you can figure out what your BMR is. If you eat less calories than your BMR burns, then you will lose weight. If you eat more, then you need to exercise them off! Although, exercise is a good idea anyways!

oh you poor thing - doesn't work quite that way - as a female to maintain your weight (if all is working normally - like no thyroid probs, etc) you need your body weight plus a zero to maintain your weight (eg. if you weigh 120lbs, you need to eat 1200 cals/day to maintain your weight) - that doesn't include any significant exercise - to lose a pound you need to iss 3600 calories...that means if you burn 600cal/day and reduce your calorie intake by 200cal/day you should lose a pond in about 4days...now that doesn't include water weight - if you're holding water - you may lose it faster...it's really important that yo don't decue your calorie intake to less than 1000cal/day if you weigh 150 or less and less than 1200 if you weigh more than 150lbs...if you do your body will go into starvation mode and your body will store all the calories to save you from "starving"...and you'll have a lot of trouble losing weight now and in years to come...

your metabolism is like a speed setting for your body. if you eat twice a day your metabolism runs at 2/3 speed or something like that. If you eat 3 meals a day and 2 snacks your metabolism runs alot higher. Eating heavier in the morning and going lighter as the day progresses is smart. The one method that I found works like a charm....
go to GNC get nitro-tech, thurmo-burst AND a box of day and night HYDROXI-CUT(take as directed).... drink atleast 8X 8 oz of water a day eat a small serving of eggs in the morning(8am), apple(10am), can of tuna serving of peanuts(noon/lunch), apple(2pm), salad and fish or chicken serving(dinner/5pm)...... work out- 2 mile run per day or more, 3 sets or 20 situps 3 times a day(7am,11am,4pm), 2 sets of 20 push ups 3 times a day(7am, 11am, 4pm)
