Well i don't really know if you have that. They had me look that up in a hospital lib. once, and one of the systoms was being late all of the time, or wanting to stay longer, when your time is up. Well i have asked many an case manager and therapist if they have that, cause it seems like even if they are in there office and not busy they are late. I was once told by this shrink that there is only two ways you can get it, one is they don't know what you have, the secound was you pissed off the doctor. It was the second one for me. But i feel i do not have that disorder. If you are feeling this way go and see a therapist, a doctor, to the hospital, call the crisis line. Yes it can be fixed by the way too. So go and get the professional help that you need to get rid of it.
Try to remember that there is no magic pills that makes things all better and go away for good, and there is no magic wand, so go and get some professional help, you may not even need any meds to deal with it.

You really can't diagnose yourself with a personality disorder, only a mental health professional can do that. If you really think you have this, than you need to be in therapy anyway. I have bpd and co-run a support group for it. This is not a diagnosis you want to have, it is difficult to treat and does not have a very promising prognosis. It is incredibly disruptive to pretty much all aspects of your life and without therapy, there is not a whole lot of hope of managing this illness or avoiding turning your life into complete chaos. If you have bpd, you are not going to be able to fix this on your own. But there is treatment...the best one is something called DBT...it is a very specific therapy designed for borderline patients.
Here are a couple of websites that may help both with information and lists of books...
good luck

I can't point you to any definitive web sites that tell "the truth" about borderline personality disorder.
What I can tell you is this:
1) It is very real and very scary to be out of control, angry, prone to hurting yourself or living dangerously.
2) This is something that is SO FIXABLE, CURABLE even, so if you have this problem, keep remembering that. (It isn't easy, it sucks, but it is possible.)
3) The best therapists in the world treat this disorder -- they are taught from the start to be caring, real, generous, affectionate, available for after-session consultations and in general just the type of therapist you would dream of if you could. But you need to find someone trained in dialectical behavioral therapy to find this.
4) It is a serious problem. You need to go to your medical doctor and get checked out, then have him/her find you a therapist to talk to. If that avenue isn't open to you, hopefully you have access to a school counselor, student health center, employee assistance center, Planned Parenthood Center (not just for birth control -- for women's health in general when you need them).
Good luck. I have been struggling with this for years. Therapy has helped immensely, though I can't say it has made me happy all the time. I pace through life with my feelings welling up and fading back -- all the time. But with the help of my therapist and the training I've had in my skills group I have a great job, lovely children and a life worth living.
You can read about my experiences on my blog: http://findingthedialectic.blogspot.com/

i have bpd. your desire to hang with people and cling is part of the disorder. it was once clumped in with bipolar but it is now a separate diagnosis. a bpd will generally be very smart, manipulative, have all or nothing thinking (very black and white)....we either see people as all good or all bad.....generally have abandonment issues and will test those who love us by doing destructive things to test their love, tend to be self sabotagers, low level of empathy....those are some of the symptoms. you can go online to the american psychiatric association website to see the full list. there are lots of websites on bpd. having said all of this, bpd can range from mild to extreme. if you have it, it appears to be mild as you are able to articulate well. please know that there is no cure for bpd. the best solution is a combination of therapy, medication, exercise and a lot of mindfulness to stop a behaviour before it happens. this is an illness that has really no cure and you will struggle with it for life. however, with the right help and tools, you can live a healty balanced life. you just have to be more mindful.
