I have the very same thing. About 3 years ago, I was in a golf cart accident...yes a golf cart..and my leg was pinched inbetween the seat of the golfcart and tin siding on a wall.....anyways...i got a hematoma in the exact same part of my leg that you are discribing, and when I am in bed in the middle of the night, like when i stretch or turn over and i point my toes... i get that horrible feeling in my leg...except mine happens at least 3 times a month.

Im not really sure what to do about it... all i know is that if i eat bananas, the potassium in them kinda helps... also...when you do get the pain if you get out of bed and stand up and stetch it out...it tends to go away.....hope this helps!

Leg pain can be due to a muscle cramp (also called a charley horse). Common causes of cramps include:

Muscle fatigue or strain from overuse, too much exercise, or holding a muscle in the same position for a long time
Dehydration or low amounts of potassium, sodium, calcium, or magnesium in the blood
Medications such as:
Diuretics, which can cause you to lose too much fluid or minerals
Statins, which lower cholesterol

This happens to me too. Usually it's because you're low on potassium. You can either eat bananas or take a potassium suppliment. Also, drink more water. Potassium helps to regulate your body's water balance. It also helps control heart, kidney and nervous system activity, so if you have issues with any of those talk to your doctor first. Actually, you should do that in the first place, especially since this seems to be a re-occuring problem.

Some people are more restless than they know and move their legs a lot when asleep, therefore tiring the muscle that then creates cramps. also, if diabetes runs in your family you need to have a blood test done or you may buy an over the counter test kit to check it yourself. You may also or souly have a potassium deficiency over all,,see a doctor and get some blood work done. Good luck. You may go to www.mayoclinic.com for more information.

I'm a nurse. What you speak of are muscle spasms. You need to apply a hot water bottle and/or heating pad (the heating pad works better) will relieve the pain. Also are you on any medications? This too could be the cause of it. In addition, I would see the doctor and ask for a muscle relaxant, this works like a charm. I hope this information is useful to you. For now take a ibuprofen or Tylenol before bed. Take care.

This isn't necessarily restless leg syndrome. You probably need to drink more water. I get the same thing especially after alot of exercise. I have heard that potassium can help. Talk to your doctor the next time you see him or her.

I had this really bad back when I was in a hard training cycle... I was informed that it is a Lactic acid build up in the muscles.... Drink atleast 8X 8oz of water a day, do a full stretch, rub muscles like your trying to rub water out of a sponge, drink more water

This happens to me if I don't get enough calcium. Drinking milk before bed usually helps, but sometimes I need OsCal or CitraCal (cheap calcium supplements don't solve the problem). Good Luck!!

I have this problem whenever i take a break from working out, and then start back up again, when i was in high school my coaches used to say more water and more potassium, so i eat water and bananas and it helps me.
