Higher Power comes from the AA movement. Not everyone is religious and the 12 step program is for everyone. The idea is that a person addicted to alcohol, drugs or other things can change with the help of the group and by working the 12 steps. Step one is admitting that you have a problem that you are powerless over. Step to is "coming to believe that a power outside of yourself can restore you to sanity." and Step 3 is turning your life over to that power. For many people this Power is God and for others it can be the power of the Group or anythig that is outside of themself. It can be a green frog sitting in an chair for that matter. And it works for many people when nothing else could.

I'm sure that as long as people have believed that there is a higher power of some form, there have been people who have used this phrase. ...Though many, even if hesitant at first, eventually chose to call God their Higher Power.

The Higher Power is The GOD of The Heavenly Kingdom and those who seek such Power have their portion in HIS Kingdom and HIS Power will overcome the lower power that is "the god of this world", he who is "the father of lies", he who is "d"evil spirit who captivates humanoids who fear death and love his wicked, evil world and it's things ;-(

yet while there is breath(spirit) there is hope!

for Miracles do happen!

hope is there would be those who experience The Miracle that is "receiving a love of The Truth" for they will "set their affections
on things above" for they know that soon they will be with their Father(The Great Spirit), their Brother, The Messiah, and the rest of The Great Spirit's Family who await their Homecoming!

peace, in spite of the dis-ease(no-peace) that is of this wicked, evil world.......

"Higher Power" is a non-threatening and non-religious way for addicts to submit to a faith-based authority from within so as to aid themselves in the recovery process but without all the religious hang-ups that go with all the "God-talk." Much of it is purely semantics.

a higher power is a deeper more spiritual entity than a religios God. Religion waters down the intensity of its deity.

Surely God the Father can be your higher power as he is for most people, myself included... or Jesus or Allah. But you may have many more higher powers.

God works thru PEOPLE and those who support me with love and wisdom are at times a higher power to me as I trust them and allow them to guide and support me.

Any person, place or thing can be my higher power.

God is the higher power. He raised Jesus from the dead to sit in Heaven at His right hand. There Jesus makes intercession for all those who love Him. Accept Christ into your life and discover this Higher Power, its an adventure.

The existance of a higher "omnipotent" being above all else with "control" over what has happened and what will happen. Or at least a foreknowledge of what will happen in a general sence.
