Yes. The cells in your body work 24/7. In fact every second cells die and more cells are being made. If your cells did not work while you were sleeping you would die because the red blood cells would not be transporting oxygen to the rest of your body.

Of course... otherwise you would be dead... practically everything we do has a cellular level to it... especially breathing ---the heart and lungs make the body one great working machine...

All that being said, you do have a slower metabolism when sleeping.. everything slows down.. even your heart rate and breaths per minute...

They have too, or else you would fall asleep and never wake up.

For example:

If your antibodies suddenly stopped working in your sleep, any disease that you have been trying to fight off, will have more of a chance to work on you, causing any really serious diseas.

Yes they are, but also there are some who regenerate while you sleep. But they only regenerate from 11pm to 2 am.

not only do they keep working, it's the time when they rejuvenate. that is why good sleep is so important.
