Christians:
If you were adopted as a baby by muslims, taken to Iran and still lived there today, do you think you would still be a christian?

Muslims:
If you were adopted as a baby by Christians, taken to the US and
still lived with them today do you think you would still be Muslim?

There are rare cases of people being raised in one religion and later converting to another, but don't you find it odd that GEOGRAPHY is the most important factor in determining a person's religion?

For example:
If Born & raised in U.S.............85% chance you are a christian.
If Born & raised in Iran.............98% chance you are a muslim.

The overwhelming majority of people follow the religion of either their parents or a dominant religion in their community.

What does this say to you about religion?

male_lonely: Wrong my friend. Irans law is based on the koran. It is illegal to refute the koran in Iran. Christianity is a minority in the middle east. Even Israel denies that christ was the messiah.

Of course, people are more likely to follow what their parents teach them when they're young but eventually people make up their own mind. I was raised catholic, and I no longer am today, but I am a Christian. Many people raised by religious parents are not followers of their faith now. I'm sure the same is true in the predominately Muslim countries as well.

What you didn't mention is how the same thing can apply to those who were raised without any faith. If your parents were atheist or agnostic you're less likely to be a believer when you're young, but later in life may have a conversion.

I was a Christian, then an atheist, then converted to Islam. The percentages come from the individual's ability to think for themselves and change. Most people find this too difficult or unnecessary. Reminds me of a verse in the Qur'an:

"For each we have appointed a divine law and traced out the way. Had Allah willed He could have made you one community. But that He may try you by that which He hath given you He made you as ye are. So vie one with another in good works. Unto Allah ye will all return, and will then inform you of that wherein ye differ. -- 5:48"

Religion is based off family tradition. Christianity is based off the Word of God. There is a difference. I was raised Lutheran and at the age of 30 found Christ. Religion is mans making, to be Christian is to have a relationship of trust with God Himself.

I keep in options the muslim attacks going lower back to the primaries, alot of it become honestly blamed on Hilary. i'm no longer assisting Obama, yet i imagine in the destiny a Muslim might want to be president, or a Mormon, or an Atheist. it type of appears like in consumer-friendly words the conservative Christians are black listed by way of the a techniques left.

well i was born a muslim but i became one only after i questioned my faith. i never beleived in blind acceptance.

and i would not mind being born into a christian family or a jewish one, for they are abrahamic religions. and i am sure, that irrespective of what i label myself, the most important fact is that i am a good human and i strive my best to be a good individual.

Yap, religion is the only way to us to save our soul. No religion ever can save us in the last judgement.

Even you are born in US and you are a Christian but you are luck of faith in your religion you can not stay as Christian. Same as Islam too.

It says that religion is not something your born with it is a choice, yes parents and society have a part but they are not the whole. You choose whether to believe in it or not.

No, if you were adopted into a family of a different religious belief you would adopt it too. What does this say about religion? That it varies from household to household.

It tells me that nurture wins out over nature most of the time. I don't find it odd at all. Muslims believe what makes sense to them, as do Christians and everyone else. We aren't brainwashed (at least, most of us aren't) - it's just that we have something that non-religious types lack: faith. Whether our faith is placed properly will be revealed to us when it's too late. Yay.

Hmmm you lost me....but it seems as relative as being born into a white family and marrying a white person. Or being born into a spanish speaking family and as an adult you speak spanish!
I would hope that no matter what your community influence was, as an adult you broaden your exposure and find out what works for yourself.
