With someone who is bipolar, there's really only one question: do they accept that they need to be on medication and monitored for the rest of their lives? Yes? Or no? If your bf can accept this, you *might* have a future, but he needs to be stabilized.

Your bf needs more help than you can give him. He needs to see his doctor and get stabilized.

Unless you like a lot of drama, I would separate from this person and move on with your life. He may be wonderful, but he is severely ill, and it sounds like too much to deal with.

A bipolar person is very hard to deal w/. They can change their mind in a heart beat leaving the people around them confused. They need to stay on meds & get therapy. It is hard for them to stay on meds because they like the natrual high they get when they are manic. When they are manic the actions they take are not always something they should be doing. Like for an example a women who had been in a happy loving relationship for 5 years with 2 kids and a new baby up & left the man takeing her kids for no reason just because the bipolar women needed something new in her life durning her epoiosid. Please be casious with these type of people they hurt the ones they love the most & not relize what they are doing.

My ex is bi polar, and I really with I could be with her and help her, however she broke up with me during an episode. She never slit her wrists however she has done same thing to me, says she loves me more than anything one minute, then cannot stand me the next. He really does love you as much as he says he does, however he cannot help it. He is going through a Manic Episode. He need to be on more or a differnet sort of medicine, also perhaps see a phyciatrist. Maybe see one together, if he is cutting himself he needs more help. Make sure he also takes Multivitamins.

Hi no matter how severe of a mental illness even manic depressive (bipolar), schizophrenic, schizoaffective, etc etc, with heavy medications things start working, sometimes slowly. It took me almost a year to be stable.

If it doesn't work after 1 year, then the doctor is misdiagnosing.
