That is entirely up to the bride. My maid of honor wore the same dress, but her flowers were a different shade than the other girls. I was at a christmas wedding where the girls wore red with white skirts and the MOH wore all red. I've been to weddings where the MOH wore a lighter or darker shade of the color the other girls were wearing. It's up to the bride.

I think the dress does not have to be different but you can accentuate a different part. For example in my wedding all my girls..maid of honor and bridesmaids, jr bridesmaids as well all wore a yellow tea length skirt with a white satin strapless top. THey also wore a striped yellow, pink, violet and mint sash. Now my maid of honor wore the sash around the bosom area, the brides maids wore it around the upper waist as did the Jr Bridesmaids except the Jr's wore the sash and we also had tiny spaghetti straps added to the top cause they were younger...same dress different ways to wear it.

The maid of Honor dress is how ever your desire it to be. Make it your dream wedding, don't hold back what you had in mind. Some people have the maid of honor dresses different then the brides maids. but some people have it the same.

You could I suppose. Many people do. I have noticed that people who have a lot of bridesmaids may opt to have their maid/maitron of honour wear a different dress, or differnt shade, etc than the bridesmaids. I've seen where every girl wears a different dress, or different shades of the same dress, which can be kinda cool too. I've got a maid of honour and 1 bridesmaid in my wedding, so they are both wearing the same dress. I didn't think it would be a big deal, and plus, it would look odd to me, just having the two girls, and having them both dressed differently. I love the dress tho, and so do they! So they say anyways, hehe. ;)

Not necessarily. Mine did not, but I have been at weddings where the maid of honor wore the same dress as the bridesmaids, but in a different coordinating color.

It isn't necessary to do so! I have been to few lately that have had this. For my wedding, I had both a matron and a maid of honro. The Matron's dress was different, but that was because she was supposed to be pregnant at the time (but actually wasn't because she went into labor at 6 months and had him 1 month before the wedding) but the dress was great because she still had the baby weight and it was empire waisted unlike the other dresses. All of the dresses were out of the same color and material, hers was just cut differently!

It's your wedding, do it how you want!

The dress your maid of honor will be wearing should be slightly different from that of your bridesmaids. After all, it's an honor to be maid of honor.

It is up to the bride however, I had all four of my brides maids in the same dress & same flowers. But I was in a wedding where the maid of honor had a pomander instead of a bouquest like the other maids, but really I dont think its really a big issue if they have the same, I wanted everything uniform in my wedding that was my reasoning.

It's up to you. A lot of the old rules no longer apply. Another thing you can consider is picking 2 or 3 colors in a certain dress style and letting your bride's maids choose what color to wear.
