Up till 1980 there what one champ in each division. Not there's like 10, so fans are confused. And the number of belts and mandatory challengers makes impossible for the most dominant fighters to hold them all at one time. So bodies that are supposed to govern the sport are basically destroying it.

I know what you're talking about. Saturday night, Travis Simms was introduced as a "Champion in Recess", whatever that means.

As for creating a tournament, it would be hard getting every current champion to participate since some fighters could get more money facing other opponents, want to fight at a different time or venue, or the promoters just refuse to get along. And anything other than that would pretty much just be creating a new title in addition to all the current belt-holders, similar to The Ring champions.

At least this way you can tell the best boxers by the fact that they're unified champions. As for the belts that aren't unified, these "championship bouts" give us an excuse to have more fights televised. I like having the extra boxing shows available. :-)

well those powerful figures got powerful because of money,3 or 4 different champions generates more money by pitting the champs against each other to have one champ,if he retires the belts are seperated again. or when a champ wins all the belts about a month later there is some controversy about a mandatory fight or paying some kind of fee to wear the belt that he won so he gives it up and it starts all over again.

John Mccainn and Muhammed Ali have been attempting to do this for years. Their is too much corruption in boxing. But the powers that be will fight with crafty lawyers and it will never get the proper reform.

Can you imagine A international boxing league. With season's just like basketball and football and A championship annually?
