As a guy AND a law enforcement officer, I think a lot of things about girls going into law enforcement.
First of all, I believe in equality, so women should have access to all of the same careers that men do.
But second, I believe in equal work for equal pay, therefore if a girl is going to work beside me as a cop, she should be as strong and fast and as good a fighter as I am. I say this because when I was in the army, the requirements for women were easier than they were for men. I think this is unfair, because we get paid the same. Also, it's unfair because if I fall on a field of battle and a female soldier can't lift me and carry me to save my life because she didn't have to do as many push-ups as the men in my platoon, that's not fair either.
But in law enforcement (at least where I work), the requirements for females are identical to those for males. So trek on.
Furthermore, it is downright necessary to have females working in law enforcement. In my state (and probably every state), it is illegal for men to supervise the female inmates, because as the sexually dominant gender men in authoritative positions could take advantage of women. Therefore it is required that we have females on staff at all times to observe the female inmates.
In other aspects of law enforcement also, women are necessary. Female officers have a better chance of empathizing with a female rape victim than male officers.
Furthermore, generally men have minds that are more analytical while women's minds are generally more intuitive (although there are exceptions to both). Both kinds of minds are necessary for empathizing with victims, investigation, and so forth.

Honestly I'd like to see more of a reversal in todays society. The old saying Insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results.
Men have had the lead for long enough. Let's move over and see what a woman dominated world is like.
I hope our next president is a woman. At this point, what could it hurt to try something radically different.

Some women are really good cops. But I honestly worry about their ability to handle themselves physically. We have a female officer who is about 5'02" and 115 lbs......I make an extra effort to back her up whenever I can. A female officer would have reason to use her tools (OC spray, baton, gun) quicker than a male officer, but sometimes things happen so quickly and you have to go hand to hand........I know some women are tuff, but they would have a slim chance against a much larger male subject.
Keep in mind, I feel the same way about small male officers. Fact is, it's a job where being able to handle yourself (physically) is very important. I am 6'04" / 230 lbs and I've only had one guy fight with me. I even had one guy tell me, "I would normally resist arrest, but I'm afraid you would kick my ***".
Women who want to be officers just need to be smarter when it comes to their tactics.
