Well it doesn't do anything now, but most scientist think that in our cavemen days, when we used to eat raw meat, the appendex killed off the bacteria that where in the meat and could kill us.

The appendix has no known use. It is a small saclike organ that is attached to the large intestines.

i don't think it serves any purpose at all...
i could be wrong because i am not a Dr
but that is what i have heard and read before but i do know that if it ruptures you can die if you don't get it removed asap

your appendix is part of your immune system. it plays a small part in your body ,but not enough to make a difference unless they are about to burst. please read at my link
