Large Intestine: A smooth muscle used to absorb nutrients and it uses peristalsis to rid the body of solid waste.

Small Intestine: Actually, much longer but more narrow. It is where the majority of liquids are absorbed and, after the stomach has completed it's part of digestion, the small intestine takes the rest of what the body needs.

The colon from cecum to the mid-transverse colon is also known as the right colon. The remainder is known as the left colon.

small intestine is mainly responsible for digestion and absorption of foods.
