If they were configured for carrier take-off (ability to connect to the catapult for example) The marines don't use them because their aircraft of choice for close support is the Harrier Jump Jet. Remember also that the marines fight from much smaller aircraft carriers than does the Navy.

Yes, they could. But it would take some costly Mods to make it possible. It's been done before. Jimmy Do little and his raid over Tokyo are 1 example where an aircraft not designed for carrier operation was heavily modified and used on a carrier.

The a-10 thunderbolts (warthog) could not take off from carriers because they had turbofan engines instead of jet engines. They had to spool up over a distance to take off. The jet engines could go to full power before the "cat" was released.

confident. Many USAF vendors have a Marine flying unit stationed with them. If the contract for the F35 B gets cancelled, then you particularly will see plenty extra Marine pilots on vendors as those could be the only ships the Marines could be able to fly from into try against.

I think it would be possible if they beefed up the landing gear, added a tail hook and a catapult connection. Also the Marines depend more on the Air Force and Navy when it comes to Air Support.

I think it can, however, it was the Marines who chose the Harrier, which was a death trap, to spend their money on.
The A10 also is a very specific aircraft which is good against armor due to their Vulcan gun on the nose!
I don't think they had the money! In fact, just prior to the First Bush venture into the Middle East, the A10 was slated to be decommissioned!

The A-10 wasn't built with the beefed up landing gear necessary for carrier landings. Plus the arrestor hook, or folding wings.

no they cannot. the a10 was designed for close air support. Most if not all aircraft on carriers are multitasking fighter bombers or fighter interceptor type craft... more versital for the limited number of aircraft available on a given carrier
