Everybody is different. I will tell you my experiences.
I have had 3 children. My first was vaginal, 8 hours from start to finish water broke first, baby was born had alot of tearing, not alot of stitches but some. Ice packs helped and so did sitz baths. But all around it was ok. I was healed within a few weeks.
Second I was in labor for 49 hours, had a csection, recovery was terrible, some of the worst pain I have ever had. Recovered faster then with vaginal though. Wasn't worth it. Pain was terrible.
Third, was in vaginal birth after csection. labored for a total of 2.5 hours in and out went home 12 hours later. Had no stitches. Healed wonderfully and quickly. I really only had pain when I went to the washroom, when in hot water, and when I went from standing to sitting. I didn't need any pain killers etc. It was the best.
My point of telling the story is that with every pregnancy it's different. Not even so much every person. Speak to your doctor about your ideal delivery before hand and just take things slow. If your doctor is good at what he or she does they will help you along while pushing so that you don't tear. DONT GO FOR EPISIOTOMY WHERE THE CUT THE PERINIUM. Sorry for caps but it should only be used during emergency situations. So many doctors use it unnecessarily. It's so painful and causes long healing times.

I had my daughter almost 5 months ago and my recovery was great with no problems ....I was induced and had a vaginal birth. I had an easy delivery, except for the 4th degree tear ( the worst one you can get)with A LOT of stitches.... I didnt take many painkillers, just ibuprofin. I was up walking around the next morning. I was sore and moving slow, but within that next day I was feeling much better. I think moving around instead of laying in bed helped tremendoulsy. Even my doctors were shocked and impressed that I was doing as good as I was when I went for my 2 wk checkup (had to go back early because I had such a bad tear). I bled for about six weeks but I used that Proctofoam stuff they give you. It helped a lot. I will automatically be offered a c-section on my next birth because of the 4th degree, but I would much rather have vaginal. It's not bad at all....at least mine wasnt! Good luck!

being induced is totally diff from natural labor it will take a long time however recovery can go pretty smoothly get lots of rest try not to move u will be sore also if it burns really bad to pee stand in the bath tube with the shower spraying cool water on your vagina it eases the pain and cleans you at the same time. and if you have stitches know that when they start to heal they will itch so my advice a soft touch with a clean washcloth(no soap it will irratate more) will almost feel better than an ogagasim. it took 23hrs for my first and was one of the most wonderful trying experinces in my life, but dont worry you are a woman you can handle it good luck and cogradulations!!!

I had a vaginal birth seven months ago to twins. I was also induced. I am so glad I had the vaginal birth as opposed to the c-section. You will be amazed at how quick your body will bounce back. Definitely use the tucks pads that they give you at the hospital. They will also give you a squirt bottle to fill with warm water - this will help ease discomfort. Also get yourself a donut seat. It sounds silly, but you wouldn't believe the difference this makes at relieving pressure. Good Luck and Best Wishes to you and your baby!

You should be fine! After the baby is out you will feel pretty normal and the nurses will assist you in what you need to do afterwards. I had both my kids that way and I would do it again. The only bad part is if you end up getting cut and having stitches (which happened with my first). Then you have to heal, but if they don't cut you you will be fine with minimal, if any, problems. Just make sure before the baby is born you ask if they will cut you. I did that with my last son, and did not get cut since they try to stretch you before the baby comes out. It is not a common practice anymore, however some doctors are cut happy since they have no patience.

I felt like I had been kicked really hard in the butt! I was lucky not to have had any stitches, but it was still quite painful down below. On the first day I took percoset, but after that I just took Tylenol and I was fine. Watch out for the first BM after delivery, yikes, that was almost as bad a giving birth!! I would say that within 4 days I was fine and back to myself. Good luck!

I had both a c section then a vbac(vaginal birth after csection)
I would definatly chose the vaginal birth. Much easier to recover from. I won't lie it hurt a bit but it was all worth it, not like you have a choice now but the pain will get better i promise!~

Well you will want alot of pads on hand. You bleed alot for a while. It was not very painful. For some reason my legs seemed to hurt alittle. I was pretty tired to. But i was up and around within2 days. And feeling normal within a week. But i think i bled for like 6 wks if i remember right. That was the worst part. But its really not that bad GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!
