If you are still young enough to think tattoos are a good idea, then you are too young to be getting one.

Mishagase is right. The normal age is 18. 15 seems an unlikely age. Anyone who would give you a 'tat at that age is not a responsible artist and gives the field a bad name.
Keep this in mind: even the good tattoo inks that exist now will migrate over time. That means the image will soften and blur. No disrespect, but at 15, its hard to imagine you'll pick something you'll still be happy about at even 20, never MIND when you are 30 or more and its turned into a blob! Hold off for a few years more. It IS permanent, so be sure its something you can live with forever, because removing them is all but impossible and modifying them later is a crapshoot. Also have one done as a reasonably large image so it has room to soften and still be a coherent image that looks good. Likewise, remember that even bright colors will fade and go a bit pastel. Step carefully and good luck widdit.;)

Get in line. My daughter is 15 and wants one too. But we live in California and you have to be 18 to get one. I know here it is a state law and you can be shut down if you fail to abide by the law.
Try waiting. I got my first one at 16 and I had it removed when I was 23, as I grew older I realized it wasn't the smartest thing to do. Just wait and make sure that you want to permently ink your body. Changing you mind is usually not an option once it has been done. So, what I told my daughter is that when she turns 18 and if she still wants one I would take her to get one and pay for it for her birthday.

In Pennsylvania it depends on the artist however anyone under 18 must have a parent sign. My daughter was 15 and I had to sign for her. Some artists will not even do 18, and even then it will depend upon the tattoo. Must will not do names on someone so young.

It just depends on where you live. I live in Canada and you have to be 16 with a parent/guardians permission. At 19 you can get a tattoo without permission since you are legally considered an adult.

wait a minute.......
you already have one, but you're asking how old you have to be?
that doesn't make sense!!

anyway, where i live you have to be 16 with parental consent or consent of your legal guardian, or 18 without a parent.

if you are 16/17, you also need proper paperwork, showing that the adult with you is your legal guardian.
when i first turned 16 i had to bring my ID, my birth certificate, and my mother had to bring her ID, to show that it was really her name on my birth certificate, showing that she was my parent.

but these things vary from state to state, the best thing to do is call around to your local parlors!
i live in DC, by the way!
good luck!!
