Practicality is part of it and kids are not thrown from buses too often due to design. However there is controversy over this and many states now require buses to have them, though most still do not. I expect in a few years most or all states will have them and it could even become Federal law at some point.

VERY GOOD QUESTION!

The reasoning behind having school buses not having seat belts is that the seat backs are high enough to absorb any impact for either a rear-end or front-end collision, the most common types. If you rode the bus in elementary school, you might remember not being able to see over the seat in front you. Really high seatbacks were seen as being sufficiently padded and adequate in an accident. However, there have been a number of rollover accidents with schoolbuses, and so the option of putting seat belts on school buses is being re-explored. The main issue seems to be the cost with retrofitting older buses with seat belts or buying new ones with belts already installed. Some school districts already require seat belts. If yours doesn't, you may want to call the school superintendent and see if they have any plans to do so.

School buses in my town have car seats for the preschoolers! I was very excited to see that. Still no seat belts for big kids though. Probably because the seatbelts could get stuck and if they had to evacuate the bus quickly because of a fire or something the kids wouldn't be able to get out as fast. just a thought.

I live in West Virginia, where everyone has to wear a seatbelt in a car. If you are under five you must wear a seatbelt on the bus (so only kids in Headstart) and sit in a little booster seat. It takes about 2 minutes longer at each stop to make sure the children are buckled properly and it takes a long time to get them off the bus.

It seems to be that that is one of the issues, as well as cost. I don't think that many kids would follow the rules either. Heck, in 7th grade we had kids light sparklers on the bus and nothing happened to them. Why would they wear a seat belt?

Good question? We have the same problems here in Australia. There have been a few school bus accidents lately.Govt claims too much money involved although I think there has been achange of heart about putting seatbelts on schoolbuses. It is up to parents and concerned individuals to lobbyfor all school buses in whatever country we live in to make seat belts mandatory on all buses. for the safety of our children.

The seat belt law is a way for the state to get money out of you for fines. People have the right to choose to do all sorts of other harmful things but when it comes to wearing a seat belt we do not get a choice because they know lots of people do not wear them and they can make money off of fining them for it.

That's a good question.

I think mainly because people don't like change. It isn't law everywhere to wear seatbelts. On the other hand, in some countries, school buses do have seatbelts.

Neither. I honestly have a good source for right here options. it really is 80 cases a lot less probably that a baby will die in a college bus than in an vehicle. for this reason it really is unwise for oldsters to grant their childrens a experience to college in inclement climate. The bus is safer. The lower back of a seat in a college bus is designed to soak up the skill of a ahead collision in one of those fashion as to shrink the opportunity of being injured. in spite of the undeniable fact that the opportunity of knee injuries is larger. even as seatbelts are in use the type of knee injuries go down dramatically in spite of the undeniable fact that the opportunity of head and neck injuries are extreme because of how the body is held in position even as the better torso strikes ahead. Neck injuries is often more effective deadly. for sure we are speaking about a 2 factor lap belt. there are possibilities attainable for 3 and four factor harnesses that would nicely be more effective useful for a childs safe practices. those are literally not in use because they're more effective extreme priced. My opinion is one among many yet personally i think that 2 factor seat belts are basically as risky as no longer wearing one in any respect. in case you pick your little ones to be even safer than they already are push for 3 factor seatbelts. yet they're fairly darn chance-free already in a schoolbus as long as they stay seated the way they're meant to. regrettably I honestly could consider Malcolm G. i'm American and it makes me ill that individuals imagine that the reason for each little thing is both because of Republican or Democrats. in the experience that they both proceed to do the stupid crap they have been doing we favor to refresh our administration and allow them comprehend the reason why the are there. To be public servants no longer ability mongers.

if you look at the seats on a bus it would be hard to make them work and it would take way to much time to get off the bus. not to mention how would you get three seatbelts in a seat. i think there are a lot of reasons.
