Cockatiels are naturaly a lean bird, judge by feeling the keel bone, the bone that runs down the center of the breast vertically. A cockatiel should have good muscle tone on either side of this, if it feels that the bone is sticking out on its own, then she needs to gain weight, if it is pretty level with the muscle, she is a healthy weight, and if you cant feel the keel bone, she is overweight.

Sounds like a great diet. You can give 20% seed to the mix. Too thin beats an over weight bird with fatty liver disease. If you want to, buy a bird scale. They have a perch built right in. Have a tweet year.
