Since you are the person taking the medicine and it is ultimately your body it affects, I would try explaining to your parents exactly what you just wrote here. If you've already tried, try again. Be persistent and don't worry about trying to convince them of anything. Just be honest about the way the medicine is effecting you. Chances are your parents are very concerned with your well-being and will probably take action to help you.
You may want to suggest that you and your parents meet with the doctor that prescribed the medicine to give you the opportunity to discuss it with him or her. Your doctor may have a different medicine you can take that won't affect you in that way and your parents may be more apt to listen to what your trying to tell them if your doctor is sympathetic to the side effects you're experiencing (which I'm sure he's heard before from other people!)

If taking a pill to level your moods is what you need then I believe you should take the med. However, you are the only one who knows if that medication is working right for you. Everyone is different, what works for me may not work for you. Ask for a med change and try something else. Eventually you will find the right combination of things to assist you. Watch what you are eating. Limit caffine and other stimulants, get your rest and do some soul searching. Perhaps you have some issue that is weighing on your mind that is stealing your focus.

Okay you're parents probably think you can't concentrate because either you have bad/poor grades, teachers or principles have told your parents that you have a concentration problem that needs to be addresed, or you have gotten into a lot of trouble lately coupled with poor grades and they dont know what else to do with you so they decided to put you on a pill to keep you calm since they dont know what else to do with you.
To talk or prove to your parents that you dont need the pill to concentrate then talk to your parents into making a deal. Tell them to let you not take the pill for like a week and if you get good reports from the teachers and better grades then you can stay off the pill, but if you dont bring home good reports and grades then you go back on the pill. Explain to them your problem with the pill that you dont feel like yourself and it is very uncomfortable for you and you find it hard to concentrate because of it. They may go easier on you for the deal that you want to make. Now the trick to this deal is that you need to have better behavior, dont talk when your not supposed to, pay attention in class for once, try to at least complete your homework or at least make an effort, make an effort to work on your class work, and try not to get into trouble. If you do this i'm sure youre grades will improve and your teachers will give your parents good reports. Then if the deal goes as expected you wont have to take the pills anymore.
Just remember you're parents want what is best for you, they dont want to you to goof off in school and not get a good education. They want you to be able to get a good job when you get out of college so you can support yourself and even a family someday. They dont want you to be a high school drop out who works at mcdonalds and you live in a dump. They want what is best for you and the pills were the only thing they could think of to get you under control since obviously other attempts to get you under control didnt work. Try to listen to them and do what they say. Good luck and I hope everything works out for the best.

Well first you should sit down with your parents and calmly explain how it makes you feel. Do your research on the medication that they're giving you. Suggest alternate therapies to your condition that don't involve medication. Come up with a plan to deal with how you will work at school and such and provide check points for your progress. If they agree, then work at it and do what you had agreed to do. If you improve then there's no problem.
If all else fails, either fail to swallow the pill or if it's a capsule, empty out the contents and replace it with sugar.
Good Luck

This must be really tough for you since, its effecting your central nervous system, which makes you do things you dislike, maybe even hate. From your point of view, I'd say, you've got it pretty hard but from your parent's point of view, they only want what's best for you. But you should tell them that It's affecting you and the choises you make, and it may help you concentrate but it's affecting your personality too.
They may say no but if you improve on your schoolwork more often, there's a good possibility that they should stop giving you the pills. I hope this answers your question!!! ^_^
P.S. Don't tell them you feel like a girl, because it makes you look immature!!
P.P.S. I didn't mean to mean!!!

At you next doctors appointment remember to mention the things you mention here. Take notes and bring along to share with your doctor. Maybe the medication is to high of a dose or they need to try something else. Its not suppose to make you feel weird, its suppose to help.
I understand the cost however try talking to your parents about it, don't argue really talk to them and tell them how it makes you feel.
Good luck

How old are you? Could you contact your family Dr. yourself? There are laws that say your conversation with your Dr must remain confidential. Even from your parents. Go to a school counselor or a trusted teacher and enlist their help. Don't give up. I really believe society as a whole is overmedicated. Someone will help you out! :o)

What if you keep throwing a pill each time you need to take it and keep concentrating on your studies without it? Are you sure you are not having other behavioural problems that may need you to take medications prescribed to you.

Your parents should go back to the doctor and get a different type of medication for you.
There will be one that will not have the side-effects you're experiencing.
