Why do we need "purpose and value" outside of our own defintion or choice?

Life is essentially meaningless...Im afraid this is true...but we can still chose to give it meaning.

The only meaning, purpose, or value in the universe is survival. The rest is just icing on the cake.

I do believe in a loving God, by the way. But I have yet to see a logical argument that "proves" She exists, and that includes yours.

I fail to see any difference what do you need you can impose all the value and meaning you like to anything you choose but who needs it there are more important things already that no one really cares about with or with out a fake deity.Try living up to a normal purpose first .
peace out

You need an outside source (and an imaginary one at that) to tell you what your value is? You must think very little of yourself, your capabilities, your very life in general? Do you really want your life planned out and dictated to you instead of living it on your own? If so then how good can this religion (control) that you crave be?

Very well stated. Without purpose, value or meaning, anything goes, total anarchy can reign, and no reason to stop it, it doesn't matter, it's all the same. Dumb idea isn't it.

That's why 90% of the world believe in God or other spirituality. There's much less atheists than you think, they just happen to rule the internet.

Why is it so hard to comprehend a life without meaning? Not everything has to have a meaning.
