Im a high school sophomore and life seems like it sucks right now. I got my first girlfriend last week and as far as i know we both like eachother. Shes cute, smart, and has a great personality. We got together and last night I was talking to her and she said that she wasn't ready to be in a relationship but she still wanted to go out with me. I told her that I would be here when she was ready but that could be a while. Also nothing seems to be going my way. my grades are slipping and i seem to screw up at random things. Any advice??

I'm a MS counselor and believe me, this is just a hard time you're going through. If you compare it to all the good you've had in your life, this is just a short time. Instead of concentrating on all the bad going on right now, think of all the good you have done and the things you are good at. So what if ONE girl is not seeing the jewel you are? There is a girl out there somewhere feeling like she will never find you and she would LOVE to have you around to talk to. She just hasn't found you yet. Keep your eyes and heart open and you will find each other someday when you least expect it! And it will be awesome!

Right now you seem to have a load of bricks on your head and that stress can weigh on you. Start by knocking some of those bricks off by getting your grades in order. You KNOW what you need to do to make that happen. Ask for help if studying isn't cutting it. Find a friend to study with if you need to. It will keep your folks off your case and ease your personal stress. You will be a happier person.

That smile, in turn, will make you more open to others seeing how wonderful you are inside and out. Thus you will appear more attractive to the ladies!

Good luck, honey! Keep your chin up!

I think you are going through a hard time right now, (duh), but I really think you need to ease up on yourself. High school is a tough time for most people. Even the people who seem to have it all together have their own problems, they just don't let it show. I guess the real question is: Are you doing your best? I mean, that sounds silly I know, but be honest with yourself: Are you doing the best you can with your classes and with this situation with the girl?

I respect you for really thinking about your situation and realizing that you may want to talk to people. That takes more maturity than you realize, and more than many people have. Do you think it would help to talk to someone? A counsleor can help, especially because they aren't close to the situation. Think about doing that. Good luck. Tranquility Base

Right now grades are the most important things. You have your whole life ahead of you to think about girls. Get your grades back up.
