My cat was born a feral and landed in my backyard. I started feeding it when it was maybe 3 months old but it wouldn't go near me.
When it was 12 months old it gave birth to kittens. She brought them into the house after 2 weeks. I kept them in the fount room and the cat got to know and trust me and now it is all over me like a rash. It plays and purrs and does all that sissy cat stuff.
However, when people come to visit it just disappears and won't surface till long after they have left.
Is this normal?

It is very normal for a feral cat to do so. She trusts you but no other. the only way to break her of this, and by now, it may be just a matter of time, is to allow her to hear others around. Do not try to force others on her. She will either come around or she wont. Some cats just take to certain people and not to others. Feel honored she choose you.

I would say that is perfectly normal. It is very, very difficult to domesticate a feral cat. You're lucky that she is as close to you as she is. Her wild instincts will probably cause her to be afraid of people she doesn't know for most of her life. She may learn to trust the people she sees the most often, especially if she sees them interacting with you, but strangers will always send her under the bed.

sure. inspite of the indisputable fact that the sanitary circumstances lower than which it truly is made ARE questionable for human intake, so that you're taking your possibilities. such issues as insect factors contained in the food do not count number for animals, yet they DO for YOU. So, you're eating floor up cockroaches and in no way understand it... Like I suggested, you're taking your possibilities, inspite of the indisputable fact that it truly is fit for human consumption. I tasted cat food once. It smelled strong, inspite of the indisputable fact that it had a very undesirable fishy flavor... by ways, as an toddler I teethed on Milk Bone canines Biscuits, a lifeless ringer for all 6 of my siblings...

Absolutely. Our cat is the same. We've had her about a year.
She seems to be getting better slowly. She is afraid of just
about anything that moves. She hates other cats, but seems
to be interested in dogs. I have faith that some day she will
be able to at least sit still while we have company.

This is very normal. You said that the cat took a very long time to trust you. It would make perfect sense for her to not feel comfortable with strangers.

This is pretty normal. Cats have personalities just like we do. Some people are naturally shy and some are just loud. This is the same with cats. It is completely fine, and if it is around people enough it will eventually warm up to them.

hope i helped!

This is very normal. Both of my cats usually disappear when they hear the doorbell. Sometimes they venture out if they think they know who is there and sometimes they just keep out of the way till whoever is there leaves.

Yes, it is absolutely normal.

Feral cats are extremely hard to tame...it's hard to gain trust from them. Once you get that trust, you'll probably have it for life. But if she was truly feral, it's not likely she will ever trust other humans.

It's all on you, babe!
