will i be a joke?

if i go to public school i was born with somthing that makes me limp when i walk and not run as fast or jump as high and stuff would i be jked at public school
im in 8th grade
please tell your age

Will you *be* a joke? Absolutely not. What you are has nothing to do with any disability or handicap you have.

What you might experience is other kids who have to feel better about themselves by picking on others who are "different" than themselves. It says nothing about you, but it says volumes about them.

Fortunately, however, you will likely encounter other people at school and other places you might go (like church or Scouts or other places for kids to hang out) who will genuinely like you for your heart, your soul and your personality. Pay attention to those people, and allow the belief that you are worthy and good drown out anything that any callous, cold and nasty people might say.

You can never be a joke unless you act like a fool. Which means that in reality, anyone who would tease you or be mean would be the joke.

I'm 41 years old and I went through hell in high school - for no particular reason, other than I just wasn't in the popular crowd. I survived and came out strong. So can you!

There are a few jerks in every school. My nephew is 9 years old and has a disability that some times causes him embarrassment. Some kids at school used to make fun of him until his mom and dad complained. The principal read the riot act to the kids giving my nephew a hard time. He has not been made fun of or bothered by other kids since.

You might have some trouble with a few kids. If they bug you too much just have your parents contact the school principal and complain about it. In the past, no one did anything to stop that sort of thing. But today, with people having a heightened sense of awareness of people with disabilities, if you complain, the school will likely drop the hammer on anyone giving you trouble.

Just remember, anyone giving you a hard time is an ignorant jerk.

I went to public school, and I had juvenile arthritis, I actually used to fall out of the desks because my knees would lock up. I did everything the best I could and no one joked about it. You are very sure of your disabilities, but concentrate on your strengths. You may not be on the track team but look at other things you can become involved in and make friends at.

u know people will sometimes be ignorant and that's just life. Be yourself dont worry about any nonsense at all they need to be focused on a education instead of worrying about you but dont worry, I have a son who goes to public school with a medical issue that he was born with but it's only an issue to them not my son so he doesn't pay them any attention. Im 16 and went to public school my whole life.
I'll tell you right there will be some jerks that will laugh, but if you ignore them you will be fine. Let them think your a joke and you will grow much stronger as life goes on.

The main thing is dont let them get into your head.

No, as long as you act normal...
Some people take advantage of the 'pity' they THINK they might get and act mean, childish, etc. and it's really annoying for some people. Just don't attract attention to it or try to get attention with it and you'll be fine.
