Just curious, I know it will but how soon for this to become apparent? I am looking to upgrade to XP and am waiting for Vista in hopes this will happen. What do you think?

The release of Windows Vista is one of the seven signs of the apocolypse, so the the price of everything will drop.
Seriously, do some research. I'm hearing (from techies) that Vista isn't going to be all that great.

No.

XP will be sold w/ a free upgrade to Vista for a while, then after Vista is released M$ simply won't sell XP anymore.

This is the same thing that happened when XP was released -- ME (aughhh!) and W2K never dropped in price.

Looking back at the prices of non NT based Microsoft Operating SYstems when XP cam out, we see that the previous generations of operating systems dropped prices.

I believe that the same will be true with windows XP when Vista is released.

Why not just upgrade to Vista instead? Despite the first posters comments (as supposedly advised by techies), I am a techie and have absolutely been blown away by the many improvement incorporated in Vista - haven't booted in XP for months

Um - "I got a question" - i'm running Vista Enterprise on a system 2yrs old with 1.5GB of RAM and runs just fine ...I'd love to know where you got that bogus info from!

It depends upon supply-and-demand. Keep in mind, though, how sophisticated Microsoft is - AND THEY CONTROL XP supply and demand. They could very well push Vista by making the so-called LEGACY versions very expensive! You may want to shop around right now! A good place to look for all kinds of stuff is www.PriceGrabber.com. All the best! -Rob

Yes, but Microsoft won't support XP anymore. So if you have problems with XP you won't be able to call Microshaft for help. But thats ok, you have yahoo answers.

yea your first repose was right, vista isnt gonna be wortha damn. but yea it most likely will drop. and if your a risk taker, and have a fast connection you can download windows xp off the internet for FREE...lol i NEVER pay for computer programs, its a waste of money when you can get it free and its NOT infected with trojans, virus's etc... and too hell with piracy laws, they just try to scare everybody from doing it but they cant get everybody, just the stupid ones...haha .

It will surely drop, but not that significant amount you might be waiting.

Good Luck
