Pappagallo is parrot in Italian, then there are different words for they different types of parrot. Pappa, Pippa, Pepe, sound kinda cute.

pajaro (with an accent mark over the first a) means bird in spanish, you could use this or some version of this word. Another one is papagaio - this means parrot in portugese. Finally, arco iris - this is the word for rainbow in spanish, this might be cool since you say it is very colorful. You could use the word arco (means arc) or the word iris(means rainbow). Gatito (Gahteetoh) Which is Spanish for little cat. Have fun. I just got a Monk parakeet and had the worst time naming him also. Finally, a person said Thelonius Monk who was a famous jazz pianist.
