Well poor Toto after all that adventure turned to drugs and alcohol which left him in the poor house he checked into rehab in 1956, was released in 1960 and moved to the Haitashberry district in San Franscisco Calif, which was not a good thing for his sobriety. He ran into some old friends and got back into drugs. As far as I know he was introduced to LSD, and had a bad trip, I think he rehashed the Old Wizard of Oz thing again and fliped out. The last I heard he died in 67 and is buried somewhere in Golden Gate Park under one of those talking apple trees.

He went home with Dorothy and got away from those flying monkeys.

Actually, the Scarecrow was told he already had a brain, the Tin Man a heart and the Lion courage. None of these three were given any of those things. "Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man, that he didn't, didn't already have", as the song goes.

I think he was happy because Dorothy was happy. I suppose the writer figured that Toto's life dreams centered around being the pet of Dorothy, and he lived for his master. Plus, he got to be a part of an incredible adventure, and his master was happy again.

He got to live. Remember, he's the one who made Dorothy run away because she didn't want him to be made into doggie stew by that mean woman in the begining (aka, the witch)

He got to go home with Dorothy, and didn't get stuck with all those weirdos in Oz.

The dog had it made, who would kill a witch and go through all of that stuff for a dog? I guess I'm more of a cat lover. The dog already had everything in my opinion.
