I've been in the ADF for 5 years, almost 6 so here's just a few of the pros and cons.

Pros: Great salary. Opportunity to study with out a HECS while still getting paid about 30,000 a year. Great training and if you like that sort of thing a lot of respect comes with it and possibly the satisfaction of serving your country.

Cons: Commanding Officers are usually pr!cks, there's early morning starts for Physical Torture, there's always the possiblity of being deployed to some not very nice places and military food is terrible :-p

I think either way you should just weigh up what's best for your situation, even if you apply, go through Kapooka and then decide you don't like it you can terminate your contract, you'd have until a few days before your basic training is finished to decided.
