I personally don't have a jack russell but a friend of mine adopted one, it was wild when she got it, and now three months later she has her in agility classes and she is performing like a champ. Try taking your to obedience classes then give her a job. Agility worked for my friends J.R. and on my hyper lab

Yep. He's almost two and is mixed with a Beagle. I rescued him in Feb. 2006 and he knew sit and shake. Since then he has learned many other things from my Lab and once i learned his quirks and what works with him individually (my Lab was VERY different to train) life got much easier.

I can even trust him loose on strange property (dog park, friend's farm, etc. He runs and runs, but stays within eyesite and all I have to do is yell "hey" one time and he turns around on a dime and runs back to me.

JRT's are different then anything I've ever owned and I had to learn how to train all over again with him even though I've had dogs for 30 years. I never owned a Terrier before him.

I used to have a JR.. he was able to sit and beg on command and he'd come when called but only in from the garden... couldn't let him off lead as he'd never come back. he would also 'stay' for a short while and could fetch really well. We never really put a lot of effort into training him though but he was so lovely and got on with everyone really well.

My dog, PeeWee, is registered and is about six months old. He learned so many things already I'm amazed. He can sit, stand, stay, fetch, heel and even knows the difference between a nod and shaking the head. These dogs are truly amazing. Smartest, best dog I ever had.

Yes I have one, and have worked with one recently in the shelter. They are incredibly clever and intelligent dogs. I adopted mine who's almost four, and I taught him to sit, shake paw, sit pretty etc. in a very short time.

You have to have a repore with these animals, or else they'll walk right over you with training and barking.
