my pc is being silly. i enabled the port needed on azureus on my wifi router and azureus says everything is running fine now..

the thing i don't understand is that my pc is capable of downloading at 160kb/s. usually it doesn't download faster thank 30kb/s whenever i use any bit torrent client

on kazaa, limewire etc it usually downloads at 100kb/s or higher depending on who i connect to.. does anybody out there have a way so i can download around those speeds

im running windows xp service pack 2 so maybe i need to get a patch for ports or something

It depends on the amount of seeders and leachers. Do a google search on azureus ultra accelerator. It doubles my speeds.

Download speed will vary greatly on the number of seeders and their available upload speeds. Can often increase download speeds by using multiple trackers - best place to find those is at www.torrentz.com

*EDIT*
Keep in mind that some tracker hosts will choke your downloads (or even block your ISP) if your share ratio is overly low

The free torrent software is incredibly slow... they want you to buy the faster version. It is slow because you are uploading and downloading at the same time, and if you disable the uploading thinking it will help, they actually 'punish' you for this by making it slower yet...

torrents aren't always fast.
it's because there are too many leachers.
