Is there really that big a difference between the sex's?

why is soo hard to understand the mind of a woman for a man, and why do women not understand their husbands?

Or at least that seems to be the majority of issues on this site.

Women have men all figured out, men just don't have us figured out. There is quite a big difference, but women are the blueprint of all human life, so there are many similarities, too....

Because there isn't that much of a difference although there are certainly some, but we are supposed to think that there is something fundamentally female or naturally male. Think about all the stereotypes about men and women that come out. This site is full of them! Instead of recognising a husband or a wife as an individual person, too many people see them as a man or a woman with included stereotypes whether or not these stereotypes apply. That is sexism and sexism is rampant on this site and in daily life. This leads to peoples inability to understand the sexes.

One must not try and understand one's spouse as a man or as a woman, but as the person who they married. Popular generalisations about gender are rarely true and nothing to live by especially if you want a successful heterosexual relationship, but how many people in successful relationships go to the internet or untrained strangers for advice?

To answer your question, understanding the mind of a woman or a man takes getting to know this woman or man as an individual within society instead of looking at their genitals and thinking "well, he has a penis he likes sports and can't talk about his feelings and only wants sex" or "she has a vagina, she likes doing her nails and talking about her feelings non-stop and wants lots of babies and will only have sex for emotional needs not physical pleasure."

Women don't understand themselves, so how is a man supposed to?

If something happens in a relationship, then women tend to talk about it to friends, family and even strangers instead of or before they'll talk to the guy about it. Then they'll decide what is what based on this and on what they want to hear. What they decide is true doesn't have to be true, they only have to believe it is. Then they are likely to change their minds about it at a moments notice.

How do you understand whimsy?

They can't even decide what to wear without going through a number of choices first and even sometimes taking a poll?

Women don't even understand other women at times. If they don't understand their own minds, then how is anyone else?

As a Sasquatch of some 700+ years, I would like to say that I have got it all figured out. However, can't say that!

The female species (God Bless them) are unique. In the spider kingdom, some eat their mate after sex. Glad I am not a spider!

Flies lay hundreds of eggs at a time. Glad I'm not the Dad! Imagine so many children at one time! Gads!

Humans and Sasquatch are not so different. While we may not fully understand one-another, we do try! Just as the questioner here has asked a question. One seeks to understand!

Me thinks that what we really need is communication! Open, Honest, Communication!

It's not about who's right or wrong! It's about listening! Not just halfway, but total listening! That and speaking the truth, your truth, his truth, her truth!

The difference isn't enormous, but it's large enough that people tend to let it get in their way rather than trying to understand it. Men and women were designed to complement each other, we're wired differently for a reason, but too many allow themselves to get frustrated too quickly with the opposite sex instead of trying to see things from their point of view.

It's clear to me that we're different, but I've learned something from feminists...

We aren't as different as we think.

We just find ways to fullfil the same needs differently.

girls dont have guys figured out and guys dont have girls figured out. i really dont think it will ever happen. guys always speak their mind, are always horny, and are too upfront (sometimes)....girl dont say when something is bugging them, think guys have disgusting habbits, and get annoyed by the smallest things. also, girls have some monthly things that guys dont have and cant possibly understand. also, i know that girls tend to have many inside jokes that guys dont get. girls also can talk in half sentences and understand what the other is saying just perfectly and that drives the guys insane. so girls will never understand guys and vice versa.

Well, guys are brought up by their fathers. Women by their mothers. We learn alot about how we act in relationships from our counter-parts. My dad divorced my Mom and so wasn't aroud when I was a child. I take alot of my social cues from my Mom.

If your dad hits your mom, chances are your sister will date a guy who hits her. It's a weird cycle, but it gets engrained in our minds at an early age. (Between 4-7)
