Usually an analysis chart consists of process or a series of processes, and potential causes of problems that can occur during each phase of an engineering operation.
The chart is followed from the bottom to the top. From the most basic process to the most complex, and solutions are debated at every stage at which scientist/engineer feels there may be an inconsistancy or flaw in the process(es) whether is be costs, materials, manhours, or even feasibility.
If the flaw is great enough, the design manager will stop the discussion and go back to the drawing board before the actual operation takes off; if it is a minor on, or can be solved easily it is penned in with a timeline as to when, where, and who, is responsible for reporting when the process is up to specs.
