i'm assuming by your user name that you already have some tattoos. that's a good thing, it's a start. a lot of people come into the shop i work in and are very ambitious with their first tattoo placement choice and i usually recommend them getting a tattoo somewhere easier first (if they were considering one there in the first place, no point in making people get tattoos in spots they weren't considering just to feel out the pain) so that way they can get an idea of what it feels like. i had a guy come in the other day and want to get a pretty big rib piece and he had no other tattoos. i couldn't talk him out of it, so i went ahead and did it. he was in a lot of pain, but i guess he took it alright.

i personally don't have my stomach tattooed, but i have my ribs done and everyone seems to say that's the most painful spot and i'm a pretty skinny guy and i honestly didn't think it hurt that much. it really all depends on your own personal pain threshold, but if it's something you really want to get, you shouldn't think about the pain, you should go for it. just breathe, relax, you know the drill.

oh and to all those people who are telling you that your tattoo will look gross and saggy when your 80, well, so will your stomach, whether or not you have a tattoo on it, so you might as well live in the moment and enjoy it while you're young. no one wants to see no neckid 80 year old person anyway, tattoos or not!

good luck.

Actually, I've never had a tattoo, but the more fleshy area the less pain, so stomach is good. Dont take tylonal, b/c it thins ur blood and u will bleed more. eat before you go in or you might faint from low blood sugar. If you work, check ur dress code and try to get it in a place that will be covered up if that is nessecary. But all in all its pain tolerance, and if u can stand a couple minutes w/ a needle, then ur endorphins will kick in and it wont hurt as bad

it probably depends on how much flesh you have around your stomach.

I got a tattoo in the center of my back between the shoulder blades and it hurt a lot more than the one i got on my upper arm.

Someone said that if you are thinking about how much it is going to hurt, you don't want the tattoo bad enough to get it. I would agree with that.

Pain is temporary though. The tattoo is forever.

Seriously man.
dont mind all these ppl.
Im a tiny pint sized girl
and i got a pretty big symbol just below my bellybutton.
Its not worse than someone scratching your skin.
Honestly if i can take it you can.
Coz as soon as he lifts the needle off your skin, its weird, the pain immediately stops. So its short bursts of little pricks to the skin.
Dont worry about it.
And let me say that the pain is strangely addictive.
Weird...but true.
I have mine almost 3 years now
and i wudnt change it for anything.
I say go for it.

I think it also depends on how sensitive your skin is. I was thinking of getting one, but every fresh tatoo I've seeen is extremely red and irritated looking. I've had friends who've developed scabs over their tatoo after getting one. My skin is a bit more sensitive and I was afraid of scaring too. Also just remember when you get older the stomach is one of the first things to go...which is why a place that tends to never sag is probably a better spot to get one.

Tattoos are most painful on areas that come into contact with bone, your ankle, lower back etc. That area should be fine as it is protected with alot of muscle/fat. It also depeds what your pain threshold is. I dont think it will be too bad.

I fell asleep when I was getting my stomach Tat done. Just depends on your pain tolerance and how heavy handed your artist is.

You may want to reconsider, unless you plan on never letting your stomach change shape which happens to the best of us.

Also, don't take pills before hand. Asprin is a blood thinner. If I was about to get jabbed a bunch of times, it would be low on the list to take something to make me bleed...more.
