Ok - I have a laptop here with a really cool windows desktop - and I want to copy it. Windows obviously still has it - because it shows up when you log on. But its not on the PC at all. I did a search of the harddrives and its not there. It used to be in the My Pictures folder - but the previous user deleted that folder, so it's no longer there. Somewhere Windows still has it - because each time I log in - it's still in the background.

How can I get it back?

Any ideas?

And in responce to the suggestion about reinstalling - it wasnt a default windows background. It was actually a picture of the Spirit of Tasmania (ferry in Australia) and I wanted a copy of it. But the original has been deleted from the machine (along with the entire My Pictures folder). Windows still uses it as the wallpaper - so it must exist somewhere - but where?

Go into the Add/Remove Programs panel, selct Add/remove window component and click on the details tab to see which component has the wallpaper/screensaver (misc??)and put a check mark to install it. Window will probably ask you for the installation disc.

Go to start/search/pictures or music/pictures and see if it turns up. Then right click on it and you should be able to copy it to desktop background,
