I have light brown hair that's mediumish length(just above the middle of my back) and it's layered a little. I don't want highlites because I have natural highlites already. I've had the same hair for a while and I would like to get it cut differently, but I don't know how to get it done. I don't want anything really short. I just really need a change.

And also, just to add, I don't like putting it up in a pony tail/bun or whatever.

OK how about putting in a fringe/bangs? A nice long one to the side looks nice and if you dont like it you can always grow it out in the layers.
Or depending on how many layers you already have, what about some around the face? Looks nice, or you could get a lot put in around the face and back for more movement.
Or just part it differently!
Or how about putting a wave in it (perm) or straightening it if its wavy?
Or you could buy some cute headbands?

Go talk to a stylist you trust. Also, play with updos! There are limitless things you can do with hair that length! Try french twists, buns, half twists, pin curls, half up-dos, topsy tails, etc.
HAVE FUN WITH IT!
Cute hair accessories are always nice also. Goody has some great new ribbon headbands that I just love. Play!
I am putting in some links for you to check out. You're just in a rut, hang in there!

P.S. Just read your addition! I am going to keep my answer here just the same on the off chance it might be helpful!

Go to a PROFESSIONAL place to get your hair cut or they might mess it up. But before you get it cut go and talk to one of the hair stlyist about your hair they might have ideas as to what will or wil not work, also ask if they have any styling books.
