That puzzles me as well. There are good representatives of many faiths (and non-faiths) on this board, but it seems like when they post intelligent, thoughtful answers, they are lost among the negative, propaganda-ish answers. They are virtually ignored. In some cases (not all) I believe it's simply fear of the unfamiliar.

I've had so many good person-to-person discussions with people of other faiths, and that's where I've learned the most about their faiths. I wish more people would try going to the source, as you suggest.

Angel the answer is simple, sad but simple Human nature inherently causes us be this way, you are right however the only way to accurately interpret relgious doctrine is through thesource of the message I mean its easy and enough to read a bible and still state the church is a lost cause

I mean the messages portrayed in the bible aren't really taken up by those who follow 'Christ' I've always like the independant type of research you know the kind that doesn't start off trying to prove one thing or the other but just assess information as oit comes to hand the unfortunate thing is the intertnet in general is so influenced by individuals opinions it would be hard to find a non-biased site at all be it for or against a particular religion

Sadly people who have been raised to think of themselves as sinners have such low self esteem that they constantly feel the need to find fault with others.

They do this because, Unless they have some one to see themselves as better than, they can't feel good about themselves.

A very debilitating thought system.

It would be great if they realized that they could go to the source, because the source would tell them how much it loves them, and how precious they really are.

Love and blessings

I agree. However, I frequent Christian sites to see their opinions on my beliefs, and such.

I do enjoy seeing the lack of thought used by many groups.

going to the source

was the source and reason for my unbelief

keep telling people to read it

they too will see the conflicts and violence, bigotry and manipulations of innocent people for the benefit of the "elite"

harm is wrong

benefit and love is good

doing what is good for your is right

doing what is bad for others is wrong

do unto others as you would have done to you, or what is harmful to others, do not do to you

have all the sources, read most, and was horrified at the inequality of women and justifcations for murder and attrocities that by today's laws are felony acts and crimes agains humanity

I agree. As a Wiccan, it's really annoying when other people try to tell me what my beliefs are. People don't seem to understand the concept of "bias" any more. Maybe that's why Fox "News" is so popular!

They are afraid to visit sites that might oppose the view of what they have been taught. Why go to the devils site, when my church explains it all for me right on their home page.

because people are either looking for biased information that agrees with the way that they believe or it's pure laziness on people's behalfs or because people don't want to deal with other people as they feel they are gonna be ridiculed and mocked and disrespected by people who are of these faiths

Afraid of information overload?... As for me... I just face what comes along and I don't hunt them for the sake of debate or convincing. For another reason, it is good to know.
