My ex called me last week, and he wanted to see a movie with me. We hadn't seen each other in a year. He would still say hi to me on msn during the year but we never met up. HE was the one who ended it. I went with him to the movie, but now I wanna ask him for coffee one day, should I? My question is: How do I do this whole friends with with an ex. What topics can I talk to him about, what topics are taboo, and generally, I need all the help I can get. haha thanks:)

First of all, you both need to stop acting like immature idiots and be mature for once. Just pretend nothing happened, or, to go one step further, talk about it like it was no big deal. But don't try too hard to act normal towards him, or else it will be weird. Just pretend he's one of your normal friends, not your ex, for gods sake! Have fun.

What part of -ex is not understood?

Doesn't matter who ended the friendship, it ended.

You must also realize that many -ex's have a hidden motive for wanting to "get back together again."

Want to find out the hard way what the hidden motive is?

"Just friends" when that is said, is not only that. There is a hidden motive involved. The person feeling sorry for the -ex will end up being sorry for their actions later.

i would stay away from friendships with ex's. and this is the reason. there will always be that EX factor. You can never be just friends where you won't ever think back of what you two had. now i would question why all of a sudden he wants to hang out after he was the one who wanted to break it off. that's my opinion
