I'm pregnant and due in July. I really want a song bird in my nursery. Drives me crazy when children can't sleep though anything and I find it soothing and relaxing.

Trouble is, I work in a pet store and I love a lot of song bird songs. I can't narrow it down.

Sometimes I'm going Canary, but different types have different songs. I don't want Zebra finch, perhaps Lavanders or Star Finch?

What do you think the best song bird is?

(obviously a finch would not be kept alone.)

What I'm looking for is what exact type of bird. Obviously a canary would be a male, females don't sing. But what type? German Roller? American Singer? Water Singer? Or do you think another type of finch is better?

If you want a bird that actually sings get a male Canary, preferably one of the breeds bred for song, like a Roller or an American Singer. Rollers have a quieter song, American Singers have more variety in their song and, to me sound more cheerful. They are wonderful birds to hear. They are actually happiest if kept alone.
