Why would you do that? Would you want shock therapy for doing something that annoyed someone else or that someone else didn't want you to do? It infuriates me that so many people are so willing to shock their dog's to do what they want instead of doing proper training or putting up fences!!
Edited in response to another poster - I shouldn't have to think about their situation. If you don't have the means to PROPERLY contain a dog, you shouldn't get one. Period! You don't have to worry about them getting caught by a dog catcher or getting hit by a car if you have a FENCE. Just because some people want to get dogs without having a proper area for them, doesn't mean that cruelly shocking them is an answer. Find the dog a better home with a more humane owner. Sorry but I feel VERY strongly about this!

Please don't use a shock collar. This type of thing has been linked to aggression in dogs. Also, they don't really work. My stepfather got one for his dog, and the dog quickly learned to ignore it, even on the high setting, and keep on running.
Other options:
- build a fence around an area for your dog (or the whole yard)
- use a tether (but DON'T leave your dog tied for extended periods)
- teach your dog to come when called (any training class will teach you how - it just takes consistency on your part)
If you must use a shock collar, I believe the only kind that doesn't require burying a wire is the kind with a remote control. And if you're watching your dog while he is outside, you shouldn't need to shock him anyway.
If you want to leave your dog outside unsupervised for extended periods, maybe you should rethink whether you really want to have a dog. Dogs like to be part of the family, not left alone in the yard all day.

This should work great for you:
http://www.k9electronics.com/Wireless-Dog-Fence.html
Note: There is a small amount of training involved when teaching your dog how to react and understand the boundaries of the yard. You can't just turn them loose with the dog fence on or the dog might get shocked and just run to the house and lay down.
I have a fence of my own and it works great, the dogs learn where they can and can't go and with the graduated levels of correction, your dog doesn't actually get shocked until they get within 3 feet of the perimeter.
NOTE TO THOSE WHO THINK THIS IS INHUMANE: I would rather have my dog get a mild shock than a car to the side of the head, or get taken by the dog catcher. So please think about this person's situation before you flame them.

What you need is an invisible fence. You put it where you want and it shocks them when they cross over it. You do not have to bury it, they bury it for you. They also teach you how to train your dog. They also provide batteries for the collar. They also have portable dog fences. I got it for my dog and he caught on really fast. Here's the website

You do need to bury wire for those fenceless collars. but the collars don't last forever. Try helpful dog club at yahoo groups.

Check out the wireless boundary by Pet Safe. I have it and it works great, but double check how far it goes. I think it goes out 90diam. Its nice though, because you don't have to dig or burry wires, and you just turn it on, and hang it up, thats all you do to get it going. I love it.
Yeah check out these catalogs, I know they have a variety of the shock training collars and the electrical boundaries wire and wireless.

Even better, take your dog to obedience classes so that you can learn to train your pet with kindness, love and compassion.
