My dad tells me that if I drink dark coke or pepsi it will make my acne worse. And I admit, its creeping up on me. So now he heard recently that if you drink clear soda like sprite or whatever, it won't give you as MUCH acne as you would drinking dark coke or pepsi. Is this true, or is this just a "dad" thing ?

That is a lie. Soda in general is loaded with sugar which some people say sparks acne. If you're going to drink any type of soda, drink what you want it really won't make a difference. You could always just cut out soda all together, it's a lot better for your health.

I've never heard of this - sounds like a "dad" thing to me. I'm gone from Coke to Diet Coke to water and back again, and it never seemed to make any difference either way.

If your acne is getting bad, I've had really good luck with a product called Acne Free. It's supposed to be just like ProActive, but they sell it at Target and Wal-Mart and it's cheaper. It seems to work pretty well at clearing up my skin and keeping it that way as long as I keep using it...... but I'm sure there are a lot of 3-step things out there just like it that work, too.

...but as for the soda thing, I'd say he's making it up to get you to cut back on soda.

I have heard of this as well. Dark sodas have more sugar and more chemicals and junk in it than clear sodas do. So, acne has a greater chance of popping up....but some people say that the food you eat and drink does not have any affect on acne, and that has been proved by scientists.

Drinking soda with caffeine--like coke or pepsi--can aggravate acne. Sprite doesn't have caffeine, so although its loaded with sugar, it isnt quite as bad.

Your skin is much better off if you drink water. Water actually helps to clear up your acne.

I've never heard that. What I have heard about other rumors regarding diet and skin condition is that it's not the specific food that causes acne it's the lack of certain foods that cause it. What I mean is since you are drinking soda instead of milk and water both of which are good for your skin your not getting all the necessary nutrients that you need.

Chances are that your dad maybe right. The only reason that I am telling you this that I hate Coke and Pepsi and think that the best use of them is to clean toilets.

Your dad is telling you that because of the acid in those sodas and the acid is no good for your skin. Acid causes you to break out
