Well....the Chelsea area in Manhattan (W24-30) past 11th Avenue have great clubs. HOWEVER, the city has been VERY aggressive in shutting them down. The NYPD just padlocked Crobar (which was one of the better clubs).

You could hit down the West Village as well...couple of ultra trendy clubs there such as Cielo (Little W. 12th)

It is hard to keep up with the clubs in NYC, because they change all the time.

Crobar was great, but it just got shut down and I don't know if it is going to open again. Same with Avalon (old Limelight space).

Pasha is really nice, and has multi-levels with different music. You can still try Marquee, but it is not as big.

Duvet is a cool place, but smaller.

You can also look up the Happy Valley party, which doesn't have a permanent home.

Mr. Black on Lafayette is also cool, and has different music on different nights of the week. Same with The Park on 10th Avenue.

Laugh Lounge is a great "hippie-style" bar (151 Essex Street). http://www.laughloungenyc.com

Kanvas Bar & Lounge in West Chelsea has one of the best martinis I've ever tasted (219 9th Ave -Cross Street: Between 23rd Street and 24th Street-). They also have outdoor tables.

If you are a smoker, yo may want to go to The Carnegie Club (156 West 56th St -Cross Street: 7th Avenue-). They have a cocktail and smoking lounge, with a nice, retro atmosphere (they have very comfortable couches). They feature live jazz concerts.

If you like and elegant, stylish place, try Donald Trump's "The World Bar" (845 United Nations Plaza -Cross Street: Between 47th Street and 48th Street-). They have a very chic atmosphere, with house music and big TV screens (I used to go there to watch The Apprentice final episodes, LOL)
