I'm going to get my hair cut pretty short, but before I do that I want to bleach it for fun. How do I go about doing this at home if I have pretty dark and thick black hair?

At hot topic they have a bleaching kit. It can get pretty light too, almost see through. People use it before they dye colors over it (green, blue, pink, red, etc.) so it comes out better. And when you bleach your hair if it's dark, it doesn't go orange unless you do it right. My brother has nearly black hair and he used to bleach it using the kit from hot topic and it worked out fine.

Go To A Salon..box dyes are a big no a lot of them are a herbal dye and are very hard to get out if you do decide after to go to a salon, and you arent promised what color you may get when you want to get your hair recoloered after a box dye it can only lift so much and if any,,,bleach box dyes are also a 30 volume which is the strongest type of bleach and for lots its to strong and when it does turn orange it needs to be toned and that is only done at a salon....i refuse to touch box dyes and i know lots of other stylits do to!!!

Definitely go to a salon if you want to get this done. I used Loreal Bleaching powder mixed with orear cream and did foils in my hair on my dark brown hair and it turned out alright. The next month i decided to bleach it all and it was a disaster. It turned my hair completely orange and was a mess. It's better to go to a professional to get this done. They have salon/professional products and more know-how.

i wouldn't do this. I would go to a professional. Sometimes dark hair will turn orange when you bleach it.

ok lets take this slowly....first you go to your car....then you drive to a hair stylist you like....then you tell them that you want your hair bleached...after they are done you pay them how ever much they say...then drive home lol
