Your question deserves A Good Answer!

Only a church that Believes that the Bible is the Word of God, and the Complete Authority for mankind as Jesus said in Matthew 4:4 and Luke 4:4.

Simply ASK GOD, where you should go, and then Open the Yellow Pages and see what churches are Available.

Visit each church you desire to and ask the Pastor what He Believes and Teaches about the Word of God!

Thanks, RR

My recommendation would be to take a look at the churches in your area and see what their belief statements are. Some churches will be very specific about the details, others will be very generalized. And now I'll go against everything I just said and tell you that the church I go to was "seeker-sensitive" until I attended a class on their specific beliefs. They do not match my own, but the pastor understands this and still welcomes me. I don't tried to change anyone else, and they don't try to change me. As a matter of fact, I get a kick out of the lively discussions we have in our pastor-led Sunday school class when I come up with some "zingers" that get people thinking.

Try a protestant church. I recommend it, not because I myself are protestant but because for someone with your beliefs, you need to be some place where you can be relaxed and follow your beliefs without the strict rules the Catholic church has.
I too believe in God but have yet to give myself totally to the Lord, but it will come one day. I do my best every day to live how God wants me to, but I am not perfect, and God and my church knows it.
Protestant and Catholic beliefs are 2 very different religions and you need to follow your heart. Catholics believe that if you sin, as long as you say your hail Marys that you will be forgiven.......then you can sin all over again and repent and sin and repent.....well you get the picture.
Read your NIV Bible and pray and you will ge the answer you need.

I am glad I converted to Catholicism.

I am always seeking knowledge.

I found this info online as 'additional readings" :

Protestants being thus impious enough to make liars of Jesus Christ, of the Holy Ghost, and of the Apostles, need we wonder if they continually slander Catholics, telling and believing worse absurdities about them than the heathens did? What is more absurd than to preach that Catholics worship stocks and stones for gods; set up pictures of Jesus Christ, of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and other saints, to pray to them, and put their confidence in them; that they adore a god of bread and wine; that their sins are forgiven by the priest, without repentance and amendment of life; that the pope or any other person can give leave to commit sin, or that for a sum of money the forgiveness of sins can be obtained ? To these and similar absurdities and slanders, we simply answer: "Cursed is he who believes in such absurdities and falsehoods, with which Protestants impiously charge the children of the Catholic Church. All those grievous transgressions are another source of their reprobation."

"But what faith can we learn from these false teachers when, in consequence of separating from the Church, they have no rule of faith? ... How often Calvin changed his opinions! And, during his life, Luther was constantly contradicting himself: on the single article of the Eucharist, he fell into thirty-three contradictions! A single contradiction is enough to show that they did not have the Spirit of God. "He cannot deny Himself" (II Timothy 2:13). In a word, take away the authority of the Church, and neither Divine Revelation nor natural reason itself is of any use, for each of them may be interpreted by every individual according to his own caprice ... Do they not see that from this accursed liberty of conscience has arisen the immense variety of heretical and atheistic sects? ... I repeat: if you take away obedience to the Church, there is no error which will not be embraced.

If you want the fullness of Truth -- that is, the church of Jesus Christ, then go back to the Catholic Church. Only the Catholic Church can trace its origins all the back to the apostles. All of Protestantism was invented in the 1500's or later. Tons of them were invented in the 1800's through the present.

Strictness has nothing to do with anything....Truth is truth. You must seek it out and follow it to the Holy Catholic Church.

Go to various Catholic websites and see what she (the church) tells you about her teachings. Take your time...do not make any rash decisions.

I am praying for you as you search.

That is a great question.

Very few people ask themselfs that and it takes a very open and intelligent mind to see the truth.

The bible teaches there is only one truth. And the Bible is the authority. don't listen to men or priests or anyone. The bible should be you guide and God will help you to decide.

When I had to decide what church to go to I asked myself these questions.

Firstly, Who is God?

Is God a Trinity (3=1) (JESUS+FATHER+HOLY SPIRIT) 3=1?

Fristly I noticed that the word Trinity does not appear anywhere in the bible.

Secondly I noticed the following:

'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one God.'"

Those words are found at Deuteronomy 6:4.

The Catholic New Jerusalem Bible (NJB) here reads: "Listen, Israel: Yahweh our God is the one, the only Yahweh."* In the grammar of that verse, the word "one" has no plural modifiers to suggest that it means anything but one individual.

The Christian apostle Paul did not indicate any change in the nature of God either, even after Jesus came to the earth. He wrote: "God is only one."—Galatians 3:20; see also 1 Corinthians 8:4-6.

Thousands of times throughout the Bible, God is spoken of as one person. When he speaks, it is as one undivided individual. The Bible could not be any clearer on this. As God states: "I am Jehovah. That is my name; and to no one else shall I give my own glory." (Isaiah 42:8)

So it is clear God is only ONE.

SECOND QUESTION IS GOD JESUS?

Jesus, in his prehuman existence, was "the first-born of all creation." (Colossians 1:15, NJB) He was "the beginning of God's creation." (Revelation 3:14, RS, Catholic edition).

As "Wisdom" in his prehuman existence, Jesus goes on to say that he was "by his [God's] side, a master craftsman." (Proverbs 8:30, JB) In harmony with this role as master craftsman, Colossians 1:16 says of Jesus that "through him God created everything in heaven and on earth."—Today's English Version (TEV).

So it was by means of this master worker, his junior partner, as it were, that Almighty God created all other things. The Bible summarizes the matter this way: "For us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things . . . and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things." (Italics ours.)—1 Corinthians 8:6, RS, Catholic edition.

God cannot be tempted. AT MATTHEW 4:1, Jesus is spoken of as being "tempted by the Devil." After showing Jesus "all the kingdoms of the world and their glory," Satan said: "All these things I will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me." (Matthew 4:8, 9) Satan was trying to cause Jesus to be disloyal to God.

But what test of loyalty would that be if Jesus were God? Could God rebel against himself? No, but angels and humans could rebel against God and did. The temptation of Jesus would make sense only if he was, not God, but a separate individual who had his own free will, one who could have been disloyal had he chosen to be, such as an angel or a human.

On the other hand, it is unimaginable that God could sin and be disloyal to himself. "Perfect is his activity . . . A God of faithfulness, . . . righteous and upright is he." (Deuteronomy 32:4) So if Jesus had been God, he could not have been tempted.—James 1:13.

Not being God, Jesus could have been disloyal. But he remained faithful, saying: "Go away, Satan! For it is written, 'It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.'"—Matthew 4:10.

THE Bible calls Jesus the "only-begotten Son" of God. (John 1:14; 3:16, 18; 1 John 4:9) Trinitarians say that since God is eternal, so the Son of God is eternal. But how can a person be a son and at the same time be as old as his father?

So it is clear, Jesus is not God.

So who is the true God?

The Father is greater than I am." (John 14:28) Jesus also explained that there were some things neither he nor the angels knew but that were known only by God. (Mark 13:32) Moreover, Jesus prayed to his Father, saying: "Let, not my will, but yours take place." (Luke 22:42) To whom was he praying if not to a Personage superior to him? And it was God who resurrected Jesus from death, not Jesus himself. —Acts 2:32.

God, The Father, his name is Jehovah.

God himself said: "They will have to know that my name is Jehovah." (Jeremiah 16:21)

On another occasion he declared: "I shall certainly sanctify my great name, which was being profaned among the nations, . . . and the nations will have to know that I am Jehovah." (Ezekiel 36:23)

Anyway, after reading these things I realized Jesus was not God. So I eliminated many churches from my list.

The only church that worships the God of Abraham are the Jehovahs Witnesses.

Everything they teach is biblical. Many people hate them and that is because they take the bible seriously and not tradition.

It will suprise you to finally study the bible and see the truth without human tradition and lies that other churches make up.

Jehovah's Witness study only the bible. That is the choice I made. But I have not yet been baptized or anything. But if I ever decide to be a christian I will definately only go to Jehovah's witness because I think they teach the only truth.

Anyway, Good luck!
