People always love their dachshund so much they want to continue on the bloodline and have a part of their doxie forever. The truth is the dogs are usually very different and from a rescue prospective that is why we have so many unwanted doxies everywhere. If you are going to do something like that please be responsible. You need to do a home visit on every single person you sale a dog 2. You need to vet check everyone. If they are not dachshund savy and have a fenced yard then pass them by. There will be others that are dachshund savy with the right home set up. No apartments. Always ask what they do for a living. You want them to really give the quality of life the dog deserves. If you are not willing to do those things and go the extra mile then JUST DON'T. Your doxie will never be the same physically. They will never have the same zest for life they did. Trust me.

Answer? PLEASE DON'T! Unless you have joined a reputable breeders' club, are seriously interested in showing dogs and improving the breed, and are committed to doing the right thing by your dogs, no matter what the cost, you shouldn't breed at all. There are already too many unwanted dogs in the world.

Breeding dogs is not profitable and you'll find that after stud fee, vet bills, testing puppies for inherited disorders, etc. you won't have a lot of profit and you'll have put in a ton of work.

If you are really interested in breeding you should get in touch with some real breeders who show their dogs and learn how to do things properly. Don't just find some guy down the street with a male dog and hope for the best. Breeding at best is difficult and at worst dangerous for your dog, so please don't take it lightly.

Is she a show dog? Does she have championships after her name to show she will improve her breed?
If any of these aanswers are yes, then you know when to breed her.
If the answer is no, get her fixed and not become a backyard breeder. This is better for both you and the dog.

you should breed her when your animal shelter is empty, and all their abadoned puppies and dogs have been adopted. The reality is that is where your puppies will end up, people will tier of them, abandon them, make them fend for themselves or even worse make them puppy producing machines at their puppy mills.

Check out Petfinder.com and put in the breed of your dog, and look at how many dachshunds are in the shelters......
