At about 4 or 5 months of age puppies enter a period called the Puppy FRAPS (Frenetic Random Activity Period) a wild time in her young life when for no apparent reason she'll run like demon possessed throught the house and over the furniture spin around in circles and zoom back and forth across the yard. She may even growl at imaginary beasts that exists only in her head. Don't worry or try to discourage that behavior as long as she isn't being destructive. It may last two or three months and she'll outgrow it along with her puppy teeth, although some dogs never seem to totally outgrow it. During this pain-in-the-ankle stage, it's often tempting to keep your puppy outdoors in the yard or in his kennel run. Don't! This is a vital deveopmental stage and your puppy must spend quality time with you indoors learning proper house manners and how o settle down when you insist on it. So don't worry about it, the best way on how I get my dog to calm down is I go outside and play with him, I run him around and take him on a jog and I even put him in the pool. Trust me swimming can really tire a dog out. Best of luck!

If you mean doing almost a figure 8 run around all the furniture for like a min or so by himself then yes. Even adult dogs will do it. It's just a jolt of energy. There is no way to control it. It won't happen all the time, just here and there. They run like no one is looking and like they're in a marathon!! Enjoy a laugh when he does it!!

Puppies need almost constant exercise at this age. This is the exact age both of my Lab puppies are and they are very hyper at times!! I only had one at first but then adopted her sister as well (after a different adoption fell through) and that helped a ton. Now they play with each other all the time and it keeps them at bay when they are around us. One great thing I did teach mine to help wear them down is to play fetch. It keeps them running and giving them exercise and keeps them distracted from other things. Just have patience, this too shall pass.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aUMsp
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Lol yes, he is male and about this age his testicals are dropping and is realizing he is boy. He shows his "lipstick" because he is happy....its a happy reaction and not always sexual happy.. Just happy. In a month or so he may also start hiking his leg and peeing on things . So watch him and training when he starts hiking. Its hard to break an older dog from it. So dont worry he is normal.

It is called a "FRAP" Frequent Rapid Activity Period. It is what dogs do. After a few months they will become less frequent

My dog is 3 years old and she still does it. I normally pick up one of her toys and we play fetch till she wears out! Completely normal and good... it's sad when they lose their spirit!
